I am now between 32 – 33 weeks pregnant. Starting this month, I’ve been visiting my OB every two weeks already and had my latest visit just yesterday. Mostly, my pregnancy is doing well. Ziggy’s size seems to be okay. His heartbeats are still strong and fast. My OB asked me to stop taking my preggy multivitamins already and just continue taking my iron supplement so that Ziggy will no longer grow too big. She also prescribed some calcium supplements for me to take. The only potential problem that my OB is concerned about is my Braxton Hicks contractions.

While she was examining my tummy, I had one of those contractions again. Actually, they had already started even before the check up began. Yesterday was a particularly difficult time because of how often the contractions came and how painful it was. Thankfully, they stop after a while but my OB said that just to be sure, I should always monitor them and make sure that they don’t last too long or become too painful. Apparently, it could lead to pre-term labor. Uh-oh. I was waiting for her to tell me to go on bed rest but she didn’t. She just recommended that I take Duvadilan three times a day if ever the contractions last too long. Good thing she didn’t tell me to go on bed rest because I don’t know how I’m going to be able to do that and still do my chores at home. It’s so easy for other people to tell me to take it easy and take a break when they don’t know what I have to do here at home on a daily basis. I so need a new helper already! At least, the helper can do all the chores while I can focus on taking care of the kids and hopefully start working from home again soon.

Anyway, I also had my second and last anti-tetanus shot yesterday so my upper left arm felt really sore the rest of the day. My previous OB never gave me anti-tetanus shots during my previous pregnancies so I was a little surprised when my present OB asked to give me one about a month ago. I’ve researched a bit about this and was surprised to find out that a lot of newborns and mothers actually die from tetanus after birth, though it seems to be more common in highly rural areas. Nevertheless, it won’t hurt to get these shots while pregnant. At least two doses should be given to the mother at least four weeks apart, the last one about two weeks prior to delivery. For some more information on this, click here for the link of this article I found on the Internet about the Anti-Tetanus Campaign that Pampers and Unicef launched in 2006.

So far, so good. I was told that I can give birth safely as early as my 37th week, which falls on my birthday week! Wow! Ziggy would be the best birthday gift ever. But that also means we have only about a month to finish preparing everything. Yikes! Good thing Kai started working on the nursery a month ago and will be finishing it soon. There are also only a few more things left to buy.

I can’t wait!!!!
