Last Sunday, was the scheduled team building activity of my hubby’s team at work. For this month, they wanted to go out of town including their families and so hubby brought me and Ziggy along. I initially didn’t want to go because I was still feeling a bit under the weather. But, I figured, summer is almost over so we might as well take advantage of this opportunity to enjoy it out of town before the rainy season starts. Unfortunately, the girls were still visiting their dad so they weren’t able to join us that time.

The team wanted a short road trip so of course, they chose Tagaytay. They wanted to get there early so as to avoid traffic. So, after meeting up at their office at 5 a.m. off we went to Tagaytay. The first stop was to have breakfast at Bag of Beans.

Some of the team members have never been to Bag of Beans yet. Our family, though, has been there for so many times already, the last one being in February this year. In fact, my blog post of that Bag of Beans trip remains to be the third most read post in this blog. I’m not surprised though coz this place is really a popular destination in Tagaytay.

What’s not to love about the place? They have both outdoor and indoor seating. The decor is really very cozy. We chose this spot right outside of the buffet area.

Hubby and I immediately grabbed this spot with the wooden sofa and fluffy pillows. So comfy!

We had a really nice view of the bird cage, swing and one of the outside seating areas.

But of course, the main reason why we came here was the food. Most of the team mates chose the buffet. But hubby and I didn’t really feel like eating too much.

He ended up just ordering unlimited coffee and buying some cinnamon rolls at the Bag of Beans bakery. Β As usual, the coffee was great. Hubby had his usual Barako while I ordered the House Blend.

I decided to order the Country Breakfast to share with Ziggy. Man, the serving size was crazy! There were two of everything. Ziggy and I couldn’t finish the plate so hubby ended up eating about half of it too. Hahaha!

After Bag of Beans, we headed to Caleruega, which is actually no longer in Tagaytay. But it’s near enough anyway, only a few minutes from Bag of Beans. None of the team members have been there before. So, hubby thought it would be nice to take them there. We have been there several times before. The last time though was about four years ago, when Zoe and Ziya were still little. This time around was Ziggy’s turn.

I was hoping to take photos of the popular Caleruega church but I wasn’t able to because there was a wedding that time. So, we just took the group to the other side of Caleruega, where the koi pond, hanging bridge and the chapel were located.

Hubby warned the team that it was going to be quite a trek. But, they were still unprepared. Haha! This is just the start of the trek. This road is actually where you can also find the different Stations of the Cross. This road leads to the koi pond.

Caleruega1

I LOVE the koi pond in Caleruega. There are actually several ponds on different levels covered by lots and lots of big trees.

Caleruega2

The koi here are REALLY BIG. At first we had trouble finding them though because it was already really hot that time and they were hiding at the bottom of the ponds. But after a while they surfaced. We saw a couple of big turtles too. The kids were really excited!

After we left the koi ponds, we headed to the hanging bridge. For those of you who don’t like heights, you probably wouldn’t like this. But it’s actually quite nice there because it’s surrounded by trees.

The hanging bridge leads to this area. People can take picnics here because there are several picnic tables here (sorry no photos of them though). This place also leads to the open air chapel. See that “road” behind Ziggy? It doesn’t look like much on the photo but it’s actually a very tiring climb to the chapel. Most of the team members really had a hard time going up. Hahaha!

Caleruega3

But hubby and I really love it there. This is a photo of the inside of the chapel.

Caleruega4

Wasn’t able to get a photo of the church facade though because it was so hot. But I assure you, it looks quite nice. Here’s a photo of the church surroundings instead.

And the view here, is also AMAZING. Don’t you agree?

These are just two of the places we love going back to. Have you visited the Bag of Beans or Caleruega before? Share your experiences with me at the comments!

But because of hubby’s hectic schedule, strolling is almost impossible. And Caleruega, ganda pala dyan. Next time, we’ll try to visit these two places. Thanks for sharing!

  7. I’ve been to Bag of Beans (dinner and breakfast meal) twice but we don’t like the food. I feel that it is overrated but we love the raisins bread, if the parking is not full we drop buy just to buy this bread.

We always visit Caleruega every year (Holy Week) since 2008. We never get tired of this place.
