Last Friday, July 11, our family attended a special blocked screening of The Dawn of the Planet of the Apes courtesy of PLDT Home Telpad. It was held at the Power Plant Mall in Rockwell. To be honest, I already forgot what transpired in the last installment of this series but I remember liking the last movie. So, I was also pretty excited to see this one.

To those of you who aren’t familiar with the movie, here’s some info about it c/o IMDB.

A growing nation of genetically evolved apes led by Caesar is threatened by a band of human survivors of the devastating virus unleashed a decade earlier. They reach a fragile peace, but it proves short-lived, as both sides are brought to the brink of a war that will determine who will emerge as Earth’s dominant species.

Here’s the trailer in case you want to see it.

Anyway, at first I was a bit concerned about whether Ziggy will get scared of the fight scenes between the humans and the apes. The only ape he has watched on TV so far is Curious George and it’s one of his favorites. Haha! But fortunately, he didn’t get scared at all. As you can see below, he was just happily eating his popcorn and hotdog sandwich. Hubby, Zoe, Ziya and I also enjoyed the food and the movie a lot!

The film was definitely action-packed. I found myself getting more excited by the minute in anticipation of the big fight scene at the climax of the film. I expected the fight scenes to be really gory but surprisingly they weren’t at all.

I also loved how smart the apes were. They’re actually a lot like the humans too. I especially loved Caesar not only because of his great leadership skills but also because he has a heart. There were so many heartwarming moments in the movie when he was in the scene and of course, I totally adored those. Watching those scenes will really make you root for the apes and hope that somehow in the end they’ll be able to live peacefully with the humans. You’d have to watch the movie though to see if that’s what happened in the end. Haha!

Anyway, it was once again a super fun experience for our family. We just LOVE watching movies. So, we’re super grateful that PLDT Home keeps inviting us to their blocked screenings. This time it was PLDT Home Telpad who hosted the event.

telpad

We’ve been using PLDT Home Telpad at home for more than a year now and we’ve been really happy with it. It’s where hubby downloads a lot of movies for Ziggy to watch, including those Curious George videos. I also download a lot of educational apps for him there, which are so helpful now that I’m starting to homeschool him already.

What’s also great is that the new Telpad units are now on Quad Core, which means you can do more with it! Besides unlimited calls to another PLDT landline, you can also enjoy a variety of multimedia content. You can browse the Internet, use email applications, watch movies and videos, play MP3 tunes, take and edit pictures, read e-books, use your favorite social networking site, play games, and download apps.

It was really such a fun movie experience. What made it more fun for us was the fact that there were games before the screening of the movie. And what do you know? I actually won TWICE! The first was for correctly answering one of the trivia questions while  the second was for posting on Instagram. For each of these, I won a super cool Bluetooth speaker, which of course, I decided to share with the hubby. Yay!

Thank you so much, PLDT Home! Til the next movie!
