I love weekends. The weekends are the only times when we can spend more than a few hours together as a complete family. That’s why I always try to plan something fun for us to do together.

Sometimes we enjoy just staying home, have our meals in the master bedroom and just watch movies. Other times I plan for something fun to do outside.

Last Sunday, I was so happy when we were invited by Eastwood Mall to the kick off event of their new Kiddie Creations activity area. At least this time, I didn’t need to think of something fun to do. Eastwood Mall thought of it for families like us!

Kiddie Creations is a weekend activity area at the 3rd floor of Eastwood Mall where kids can try a variety of creative and educational workshops. It is available every weekend this October. So, if you’re interested to check it out, do so asap!

Let me share with you the fun things that our three kiddos were able to do at Kiddie Creations that day.

We started with the Maya booth. They were offering a “Make Your Own Pancake” activity. Ziggy, who LOVES pancakes, readily agreed to try it out. The nice lady assistant helped him out because he couldn’t quite do it on his own yet.

He was able to create a small, weird shaped pancake, which was colored blue and yellow. He ate the entire thing and said it was delicious. I believed him!

Our next stop was the Cynergy Artworks booth, which featured a photo booth as well as a station for face and body painting, henna tattoo, glitter tattoo and balloon twisting. All our three kids decided on just the body painting that day.

Zoe’s was a very dainty butterfly while Ziya had this really cute heart done.

It was Ziggy’s first time to try body painting. I initially thought he wouldn’t sit still long enough for the painting to get done. But boy was I wrong! He was very patient the entire time. He was very adamant though that the only body paint design he wanted was that of a fire engine. The artists there said that the only way they can paint one is if they have a photo they can copy. The hubby readily drew a sample on a small piece of paper. Hahaha! Ziggy was pretty happy with the result. It’s actually pretty good!

Next up, Ziggy tried one activity at the Engineering for Kids booth. He tried using this contraption which launches what I think were straws. I was busy talking to one of their staff so it was only hubby who was able to pay attention to this. Ziggy seemed to really enjoy it though.

They have all sorts of robotics activities going on there. They even had a rocket launching planned that day but we weren’t able to witness it. But I did learn that they usually offer a Lego engineering class at their branches, which is so great because Ziggy is such a Lego addict. I hope that hubby and I can let him join a class soon.

While Ziggy was busy here, the girls went ahead to the Sparkle Lab booth. They have tried a Sparkle Lab activity before when we attended another event. Back then, they decorated their own headbands. They enjoyed the activity a lot so they were excited to try another one. This time around, they tried making their own sock puppets.

It was their first time to make sock puppets. They’re also not too good at sewing yet, which means it took a lot of time before they were able to finish. Good thing that the Sparkle Lab staff were very patient with them. They really tried as much as possible to let the girls make their own puppets with minimal help from them. This lets the kids really develop their skills. As first-timers, I think the girls did a fabulous job though. Zoe created a cat puppet while Ziya’s was a dog.

Sparkle Lab is so cool. They actually offer a lot of other unique workshops such as Game Design 101 and Stitches and Circuits for geeky fashionistas. You can inquire about these when you catch them at their booth.

Ziggy was also so excited to try decorating his own cupcake. We did this at the J.cuppacakes booth.

Kids were given ready-made cupcakes and all the kids had to do was put on the frosting and toppings. This nice chef helped Ziggy decorate his cupcake. Once again, he ate all of it afterward. Hahaha!

There were many other booths that day such as the following:

  • Ballet Workshop from Halili-Cruz School of Ballet
  • Jewelry Making from Babaylan Treasure, Patamaba Jewelry and Beauty n Beads
  • Hair Clip Decorating from Pink Bubbles
  • Personalize your Pouch from Maarte
  • Arts and Painting from the Learning Library
  • Archery from Gandiva Archery

It’s really just too bad that we weren’t able to try them all out.

Aside from the booths though, there were also performances and demos. We were able to catch the performances of Halili-Cruz School of Ballet, the jewelry-making demo of Babaylan and Patamaba as well as the cupcake decorating demo of J.cuppacakes.

The last thing we did was visit the booth of Twisted Candy. They didn’t offer kiddie activities but they were selling candy of course. I bought Ziggy one of their lollipops. Later on, we found out that our loot bags also had some candy inside. Here’s a sample. This one’s just so cute for Halloween!

All in all, it was a very enjoyable experience. The kids enjoyed the afternoon and learned to do really fun and cool stuff. I am personally so pleased to see Ziggy really volunteer to try out the activities. I guess, this just goes to show that he’s mature enough to handle “classroom” type activities. Yay! I really recommend that you guys try Kiddie Creations too.

Kiddie Creations is open every weekend of October. Each weekend may feature different booths though so you can actually go every weekend if you wish to explore!

Thanks to Eastwood Mall and Megaworld Lifestyle Malls for inviting us!
