As a mom of a high school kid (with another soon-to-be high school kid by next school year), I’m already on the look out for the perfect college. I have to admit that part of me hopes my kids will decide to go to my beloved Alma Mater but I’m also the type of mom who prefers non-traditional forms of education.

At this day and age, parents like us should be willing to explore alternatives when it comes to our children’s education. While there’s nothing bad about going the traditional route, I just think it’s our responsibility as parents to see what else is available out there that our kids can take advantage of.

Take for example iACADEMY. I didn’t really know much about it before. I just used to see it along Ayala Avenue. Fortunately, I was recently invited to take a tour of their new location at 324 Sen. Gil Puyat Ave. Makati City. I got to meet the school’s President, Deans, and other administrators, who were all so excited to share what iACADEMY  has to offer.

I learned so much about the school that afternoon. In fact, I liked it so much that I hope my kids will enroll there one day. It’s the type of school I wanted to attend myself, if only options like this were available to me years ago.

Let me share with you the top 7 reasons why you should enroll your kids at iACADEMY.

1. Industry-relevant not just Industry-ready

There are so many courses available these days that students sometimes have trouble choosing what they really want to take. What’s concerning about it too is that sometimes students end up having a hard time finding a job because the course they took wasn’t really industry-relevant.

iACADEMY makes sure that their four-year courses all cater to the needs of the industry by developing holistic graduates who stand out in the field of their choice. They are not only groomed to succeed locally but globally as well. Because of this, all of their graduates don’t have any trouble at all finding jobs and thriving in their chosen fields.

Their programs are divided into 3 major fields: School of Computing (Software Engineering, Game Development, Web Development), School of Business (Financial Management, Marketing and Advertising) and School of Design (Animation, Multimedia Arts & Design, Fashion Design & Technology).

These courses were chosen based on the top required jobs in the world today.

2. Experienced academicians and professional practitioners

Sometimes there is a disconnect between what students learn in school and the actual industry practices. This is a big problem because it means graduates are not ready to really take on what is expected of them at work.

To solve this problem, iACADEMY  only hires practicing professionals to be part of their faculty, who are able to share not only their knowledge but also their experiences in the field. Some of their faculty even boast of  global work experiences that students can benefit from.

3. Real-World training

Instead of the typical 2-month OJT program common in most colleges and universities, iACADEMY  has an 8-month internship program that exposes students to real work environments that give them the training they need to excel. During internship, students are not required to take any classes, which means they can truly focus on learning on the job during their entire stay in the company.

4. Solid industry partnerships

iACADEMY  has over 300 industry partners for internship opportunities. They also have partnerships with international schools such as DePaul University in the US and Polimoda in Italy, wherein students can engage in overseas education programs.

Other industry and internship partnerships include McCann Erickson, Microsoft, ABS-CBN, Nestle, Metrobank, ePLDT, San Miguel Corporation, Unilab, Megaworld and more.

Fashionistas will also find it interesting to know that iACADEMY  was chosen by Solar Entertainment as the official partner school of Project Runway Philippines. It’s so cool because the actually filming of the show takes place within the campus.

5. High-tech facilities and equipment

iACADEMY  was designated the first IBM Center of Excellence (CoE) in the Philippines and the ASEAN region. It is also the first college that became a WACOM Authorized Training Partner, making the school one of the country’s hubs for technology-based learning.

I got to take a peek at their classrooms and I was impressed by their state-of-the art equipment. They have both Windows and Mac classrooms to make sure that their students can work on both.

Their equipment for their Computing and Design courses are all top-of-the line too.

6. Strategic location

iACADEMY  is located at the heart of Makati’s Central Business District. This decision was deliberate because the school wanted their students to be exposed to the real world wherein they are within reach of industry professionals and partners who teach, train and eventually hire them.

7. Family environment

Unlike big colleges and universities, iACADEMY  doesn’t have a huge campus. They only occupy 8 floors of one building so far, which gives the administrators and staff a chance to all interact together. But even with only 8 floors, there are a lot of classrooms, a library (with a soundproof music room inside), an auditorium, a canteen, and a students’ lounge.

I love the modern and clean look of the campus.

They have an open door policy, which allows the students to have access to their professors and other administrators any time they need them. In fact, students are allowed to hang out (and even make some noise!) in the same area as the administrators.

At the campus, you can really feel the family ambiance. Students’ work are prominently displayed in all areas of the school, even at the stairwell. You really feel how much they care for the overall well-being of their students, which is exactly why iACADEMY  is now one of the top colleges that I am considering for my kids.

  13. My friends work here so that’s the first time I heard about this school. I was interested to take up Web Development and Financial Managing back then but that time they only accept full courses so I wasn’t able to push through that plan. But this is a nice school for students. It looks like they really offer quality educations.

  21. Was a former instructor there and saw the logic of its programs especially the extensive OJT which is spot on for giving students real world experience.

Way back then, my former students under OJT wait for me coming to work for consultation, as their immediate supervisors were picking on their brains. After 6 months of OJT, they were offered respective positions by iAcademy’s industry partners. Need I say the reasons?

    1. Wow, that’s really nice. It must have been such a cool experience for you as an instructor. 🙂

  24. My son is currently taking course BS Game Development at iAcademy , would be in his senior this year.
You are right about non- traditional education. This is what our society needs to boost our economy.
The school had already set up foundation to students in their chosen field even before they graduate.

  25. I am looking for a school in Manila offering Digital Media. I came across IAcademy on the internet which is one of the few schools in Manila offering this course.

This school seems new to me as we have been out of the country for 14 years now.

The reviews posted were wayback 2015. How is the school now in terms of the quality of education.

I really appreciate any comments. I don’t want to waste my son’s time in a school which does not suit his academic requirements.

  26. I’m planning to study there this upcoming S.Y. 2021-2022 so I am happy that I stumbled upon this preview while researching for a background and reviews of other people who study/works at iAcademy. Though since we still have the Pandemic I think there would be some changes but I’m still looking forward to it.
