Spread the love

I miss dancing – A LOT! I used to dance often when I was a kid. In fact, I’ve had some ballet training and I was also a part of our high school Dance Club. However, by the time I reached college, the only dancing I did involved going to bars with my friends. Haha!

Seriously though, I love dancing so much that I often say it is the only way one can make me work out. I’m not one to go running or work out in the gym. It’s either dance or yoga. Unfortunately, when I became a mom, dancing had to take a back seat but I’ve always wished I’d be able to find a way to go back to it somehow. Dancing just frees my soul.

DaloyDanceCompany1

Fortunately, I recently came across Daloy Dance Company. Their dance school is located at the Erehwon Center for the Arts, #1 Don Francisco st., Villa Beatriz, Old Balara, Quezon City. It’s actually so far from where I live but their vision and philosophy intrigued me so much that I truly plan on checking the place out and trying some of their sessions this summer.

Here’s more info about the company.

Daloy Dance Company values dance as a deeper human language and aims to create works of art that deepen human connections, impact multiple cultures, and foster unity, empathy and compassion among different communities. Composed of artists from theatre, music, ballet, jazz, folk, street, contemporary, and modern dance. Daloy aims to cultivate a community of dance-artists and collaborators providing new perspectives and possibilities in contemporary dance. Bringing art and dance into new heights, the company seeks balance between daloy or flow and being centered in its dance practice, all while keeping a standard of excellence in performing and choreography.

For those of you who are into dance like me, you might want to check out Daloy Dance School’s summer workshops for 2015, from April 6 – June 6, 2015. They offer workshops for the following types of dance.

  • Jazz
  • Contemporary Dance
  • Creative Movement
  • Contact Improvisation
  • Improvisation Jam

Aside from the regular classes, they even have Master Classes taught by guest teachers from UP Dance, Australia and New York, which I think is awesome! There’s a chance to take part in a recital too.

Here are the summer workshop schedules.

I am seriously interested in all the different dance classes. However, I’ll probably take either the Contemporary Dance or Improv Jam classes this summer. I’m so excited! I can’t wait to awaken the dancer in me again. I could certainly use the exercise. Plus, it’s going to be such a superb way for me to have some much needed me time, don’t you think?

If you wish to know more about Daloy Dance Company, check out their website at www.daloydc.wordpress.com or email them at [email protected].  Follow them on their Facebook page, Twitter or Instagram.

Check out their videos on YouTube too, such as this one below.

Hope to see you guys at the studio!

  8. I wish I could dance! I can’t even do yoga properly. I remember one time I got scolded in a yoga class by a yoga teacher because he felt I wasn’t concentrating enough…little did he know that I felt like I was dying, hahaha. I’m almost sure that a dance class would end up the same way. I’m hoping to send my daughters to dance classes though when they’re a bit older so that they won’t be as un-flexible as me! So thanks for sharing! 🙂
