Mother’s Day Celebration with #DownyTimeless

I’ve been blogging for 4.5 years already and yet after all that time, I knew my mom still couldn’t quite understand what it is that I do. Yes, she has seen my blog but she didn’t really know what maintaining one entails. Last May 6, I finally got a chance to show her a glimpse of what I do, during the Mother’s Day celebration of Downy Timeless.

If you’re a homemaker like me, you’ve mostly likely heard about or used Downy when you do your laundry. I, for one, love that Downy makes our clothes softer and smell really good too. When your clothes feel soft on your skin and smell oh-so-good, don’t you just feel a lot better? I know I do!

Scents are very powerful indeed. It conjures many memories. Even babies are able to identify their mothers based on her scent. Even as an adult, there are certain scents that would usually remind me of my mom, like the scent of her special spaghetti, her beef stroganoff, her perfume…the list goes on. Those scents will stay with me forever.

It was very timely then to introduce this new variant through a gathering of mothers held at The Conservatory of The Manila Peninsula Hotel.

….wonderful lunch …..

….and even a portrait session.

Yup, that’s me and my mom. Although we’ve both had portrait sessions before, this one was our first together, which made the experience extra special for us (Thanks, Downy!). If we look awkward in the photo though, it’s because we did feel awkward posing in front of other people. Haha! Just the same, this was a really nice experience that we shared so we don’t really mind the awkwardness much.

However, I think what was more special for my mom was the surprise she got when viewing the AVP shown during the event. She didn’t know that prior to the event, I was asked to send in a photo of myself holding a sheet of paper containing three words that I would use to describe my mom. This is what she saw.

My mom was so shocked to see it that she didn’t believe at first that it was me. She had to confirm it from me! Haha! I could see from her reaction that she was really pleasantly surprised and touched with the gesture (if not also embarrassed after everyone at our table turned to look at us. Haha!).  What mom wouldn’t appreciate something like that, after all?

My mom and I don’t see eye to eye on everything. And we’ve also had not-so-nice moments together. But I know that whatever happens, she will always be there for me and that her love for me and my siblings is timeless.
