Spread the love

Last June 5 was my brother’s 15th death anniversary. He would have been 35 years old by now. Instead, he never got to finish college, never became a doctor, never got to experience adult life. It was all because, on that fateful day 15 years ago, he was killed in my dad’s car by two men (supposedly) who until this day have never been identified.

That was one of the most traumatic experiences of my life. It was so traumatic that I lost any interest in learning how to drive, up to this day. I never want to find myself in a situation where I have to be in a car alone especially now that we hear a lot of stories about cars being carnapped and innocent people getting mugged, raped or killed almost every day.

I’ve always wished there was some way my brother could have alerted us that something was going wrong that night. Now, 15 years later, I finally found one that could have maybe saved his life then. It’s a little too late for my brother now but it could save the rest of my family and friends as well as our car. It can also save you.

Last month, I was given an opportunity to review the Tramigo T23 Vehicle Tracker. I immediately agreed because I am very concerned about not only protecting our one and only car but also protecting those who ride it, which means myself and my family. Let me tell you about Tramigo.

TramigoLogo

Tramigo is a multinational company based in Finland. However, their sales, support and R&D offices are located in their main markets, such as the Philippines. They are pioneers and brand builders composed of a team of highly innovative and persistent entrepreneurs aiming to change the tracking industry and create the first global consumer brand in the tracking product and telematics business.

The Tramigo vehicle tracking device combines the GPS (Global Positioning System), GSM (mobile network) and geographical information (TLD Tramigo Landmark Data) into one device.

The device uses GPS satellites to position itself resulting in very accurate positioning, then it finds the closest TLD landmark to that point from its internal memory and sends the information across to any authorized mobile phone as a text message using the GSM network.

Users only need to send simple text message commands for the device to work. Tramigo is multilingual and is currently available with local landmark information in the Philippines and over 220 other countries and areas.

Now let me tell you about one of Tramigo’s products, the T23 Vehicle Tracker Fleet Edition.

TramigoT23

The T23 Fleet Edition is typically used for professional fleet management and monitoring so it’s perfect for service providers and fleet management companies, such as car rentals and the like. However, it can also be used for private vehicles.

The T23 Fleet Edition is easy to install to any car and can be fully hidden. Just insert a SIM card and connect the T23 to vehicle power, download the app on your phone and you are good to go.

It will enable you to:

  • Monitor and control your vehicles in real time offline and online, without monthly fees and using any smartphone or tablet with the M1 Move app
  • Keep tabs on driving habits and reduce fuel use
  • Prevent unauthorized trips and theft
  • Utilize a wide range of professional accessories
  • Monitor vehicle use and status

It’s key features include:

  • Geofencing to detect unauthorized vehicle use/detours
  • Remote listen or hands-free audio with your control center at the push of a button
  • Power reporting to detect disconnection or bad vehicle battery
  • Motion detection to secure parked vehicles & unguarded assets.
  • SOS button to send out vehicle location when in need of assistance.
  • Ignition detection and disabling (optional)
  • Speed reporting to eliminate bad driving habits.
  • GPS anti-jamming features to remove interference from up to 8 jammers.
  • Periodic reporting based on time or distance traveled.
  • Idle alarm to detect running engines.
  • Multiple 1-Wire sensors such as Driver ID and temperature.
  • Analog sensors for example for fuel and voltage measurements.
  • Accurate GPS positioning with GPRS & GSM communication.
  • Landmark data for easy location even when maps are unavailable.

The package contains the following:

  • T23 Tracking Device
  • External GPS Antenna
  • Backup Battery
  • Microphone
  • Cigar Lighter Adapter
  • External Panic Button
  • Vehicle Power Cables
  • USB Cable
  • Pamphlet

The Review

Initially, we only used the device by placing it on the dashboard of our car because we didn’t think we’d be able to use the unit permanently. While it did work that way, we noticed that the battery dies down quite fast when you send monitoring requests frequently. So eventually, we asked Tramigo to install it properly and connect it to our car using the power cables. It’s actually supposed to be easy to install on your own but we opted for a professional to do it instead.

This way, we don’t have to worry about the battery anymore. The device is now also perfectly hidden so anybody who tries to steal our car or do something else will not know that our car can be tracked.

To use the device, you have to download the M1 Move app to your smartphone. You can download it for FREE from m.tramigo.net. In my case though, I downloaded straight from Google Play. Tramigo also has software that will enable users to track multiple vehicles from a PC but that’s usually used only by fleet management companies.

After downloading the app, you have to add your vehicle by giving it a name. We named ours “Demo” temporarily. If you’re monitoring more than one vehicle, you can add more.

Tramigo9

The next step is to go to the vehicle settings and register your  car’s mobile number. You can use any SIM you want. We used one from the same service provider as our mobile phones so that it’s easier for us to send load to it. You can also change the Vehicle Type, turn the Sleep Mode on or off, set an alternate language and assign Users, among others.

Tramigo10

Take note that you can assign more than one user. You can even assign the level of control for each user. In our case, both my husband and I are registered as “Owners” and have full control of the device and can track our vehicle using our separate mobile phones.

Next step is to go to the Safety settings. Check those that you need to monitor. However, maximum speed and the immobilizer can only be used by installing add-ons to the device.

Tramigo8

After the successful installation and registration, we proceeded to use the device. There’s a list of commands that you can use depending on what you want to track. Some of the most common commands are:

  • FIND,
  • FIND,NEAR
  • ALARM,ON or ALARM,OFF
  • SPEED,80 (example for speed limit) or SPEED,OFF
  • FIND,10 (example for periodic reporting, in this case, every 10 minutes)
  • IDLEALARM,30

To use these commands, simply text them to your device’s number. The request will then be sent to your device. Then, the device will send you a reply through the app. Depending on your settings, your device can send you a variety of alerts through the app. An example would be this one below.

Tramigo7

As you can see, it provides a detailed report. You can even view the location from a map. Just click “Show on Map”. You can even choose from a variety of maps as well. Here’s a sample of the map shown when I sent a request for FIND when my hubby was on his way to work.

Tramigo5

All the reports and alerts are recorded and you can view them from a list. Filtering can be done to make things easier for you.

Tramigo6

We’ve been using this for over a month now and we’re very pleased with it. It gives me peace of mind whenever my hubby and kids are on the road without me. At least I can always track where they are and hubby has an option to press the panic button in case something bad happens. By pressing the panic button, the device will immediately send an alert to my phone and I’d be able to act accordingly.

So, you see, this is definitely something that could have helped save my brother if only this was available to us then. At least now I wouldn’t have to worry so much. I highly recommend this product to everyone especially for families. With the crime rate in our country right now, I think it’s better to be safe than sorry.

You can purchase the Tramigo T23 Fleet Edition from Lazada for Php 12,000 as well as their other product the T23 Track Edition for Php 11,500. However, take note that this excludes installation. Tramigo recommends you buy their products in L.A. Car Accessories or other similar stores if you wish to get customer service.

  6. Okay this is my comment for your giveaway (earlier was a personal one! hehe)

We would love to have this installed in our car since we travel a lot due to Mike’s work as a photographer. Moreover, we need to drive far and visit unfamiliar places when scouting a location for our client, which really frightens me, as we go out with the kids.

So, in situations like that, Tramigo may come in handy!

  7. Instead of a sedan, we’re thinking of getting ourselves a van that we can rent out when we don’t really need it. (Our family is getting used to public transpo and walking to places anyway). It would really help us keep tabs of the driving habits of the ones who are renting it out and we can give them a warning beforehand.

  9. I have seen a different vehicle tracking in my dad’s office years back and it was very helpful for companies to monitor their drivers. But for personal use, this would be a very handy also.

    (My answer to your giveaway).

I would love to have this installed in our car because I believe it will be a very helpful device for ladies like me who are always alone traveling. It would not only help me as a driver to locate the car once it is stolen, but it would also give my parents a piece of mind knowing where I am or in case something bad happens.
