Our son Ziggy loves to play with toy vehicles, one of them being trains. So, you bet he likes playing with Thomas the Train toys and watching them on TV or on YouTube.

He was so excited then when I told him that my fellow mommy blogger friend, Glaiza of MoomyMusings.com, invited us to attend the Thomas & Friends’ Birthday Bash to celebrate their 70th anniversary. The event was held at the SM Mall of Asia – Atrium last September 27.

Thomas the Train fans had a chance to join the affair simply by making a single receipt purchase worth Php 500 of any Thomas & Friends item from September 13 – 27, from participating SM stores and Toy Kingdom branches. Their purchase entitled them to a birthday bash ticket.

The area looked really festive with its Fun Fair carnival theme set up where kids were welcomed by friendly train engineers. Kids and parents got a chance to enjoy loads of activities and treats.

There were Thomas & Friends toys set up on some tables and kids got to play with them all afternoon. That’s Ziggy holding the Thomas train.

Ziggy also got to participate in the coloring station.

He wanted to have his face painted with Thomas the Train. However, the line was way too long so we didn’t get to do it.

But he got to ride Thomas the Train and took photos all over the place.

There were also a lot of games on stage. So many lucky kids were able to go home with amazing prizes and giveaways.

The kids were likewise invited to go on stage to participate in the storytelling session.

There was even a costume contest. Here are the top three. You can see that the parents really did an amazing job with these costumes. These winners took home with a collectible Thomas Starter Play Set. So lucky!

There was also a Meet and Greet session with Sir Topham Hatt. Ziggy was the first one up.

You might be wondering why he looks like this in the photo. He said it was because he was trying to look if his dad was looking at him on stage. Hubby was watching from afar, one floor up from the Atrium, and that’s why Ziggy was looking up with his “binocular” hands. Haha! Funny little boy.

It was also nice that we got to hang out with some of my fellow mommy bloggers and their kids. Nadia, Jho and Arge are here in this photo with their boys.

Ziggy and I had a nice time at the event. But I believe it was Ziggy who enjoyed the most because he got to take home a new Thomas the Train play set too. Yay!!!

Happy birthday again, Thomas the Train! Thanks for having us at your celebration.

  7. I remember how I was hooked with this cartoon show too. I can even still hear their original intro song/beat still playing in my ear. Hehe. I’m a female but I really enjoyed this show. I’m glad to know they still have it and that kids are still enjoying it as much as I did.
