A few weeks ago, I wrote a review of the Choo Choo Park and Choo Choo Boo apps for kids here on the blog. If haven’t been able to read it yet, do click on the links to learn more about them.

You’d be happy to know that Choo Choo apps has recently released a new version, called Choo Choo Snow, in time for the season. Allow me to tell you all about it.

ChooChooSnow8

Similar to the first two apps, Choo Choo Snow is all about inspiring creativity and encouraging discovery among kids. You’ll see this page when you start the app. Your child can go ahead and color this page or press play to go to the main feature.

Choo Choo Snow features a Christmas Park. The scene is in black and white. Snowflakes are falling on the park. Your child can make it come to life by coloring the different elements and characters, moving them around and interacting with specific elements.

ChooChooSnow1

Clicking on the box icon on the bottom left will show your child the different elements he or she can add to the scene. Your child can also drag any of the elements already on the scene back to the box.

ChooChooSnow2

Clicking on the crayon icon on the bottom right will show crayons. Your child can pick any color he or she wants and color any part of the scene.

Above you’ll also see that one of the characters has a thought bubble on top of her head with a photo of a house. That means your child can drag that character to the house element to see how it will interact with it.

ChooChooSnow3

Above you’ll see that after being dragged to the house, the character will be given cookies. Stars will come out to signify accomplishment.

ChooChooSnow5

Dragging a character to the Christmas tree will turn it into a caroler and Christmas music will start playing. Music, I think, is a welcome addition to the Choo Choo apps. The first two didn’t really have them.

ChooChooSnow6

I find that there seems to be more ways to interact with this scene though. For instance, your child can place his finger on the snowy ground part and drag it to the side to create a snowball such as the blue/white one on top, in front of the carolers.

ChooChooSnow9

Drag it further and you can make a bigger snow ball.

Here’s what the scene can look like when colored.

Above you can see that I took a screenshot of it using the camera icon on the top right side of the screen.

I think it’s a fun app for young kids to use. It’s a great way to learn about colors and it encourages kids to explore. They’ll like the fact that it’s timely too since we’re in the Christmas season now. Learn more about Choo Choo Snow and the other apps on their website.

Initially, the Choo Choo apps were only available on the App Store. Recently though it was announced that they are now on both Android and Amazon too. So, check them out. You can find Choo Choo Snow specifically on the App Store here: http://apple.co/1NGZ5hR. It’s available for only $1.99.

It’s very affordable anyone can easily purchase the app. But in case you want it for free, you’d be happy to know that I’m giving away three (3) copies of the Choo Choo Snow app! Yay!
