#WriteBeautifully With CN Paper Crafts Traveler’s Notebooks

I am obsessed with traveler’s notebooks. If you follow my hobby / planner account on Instagram, @planningforpleasure, you’d know that. I started using traveler’s notebooks as planners and journals since last year and got hooked! There’s so much you can do with it to customize it in terms of size, color, material, inserts, and accessories to make it your own. In fact, I’ve been known to DIY a lot of the stuff I put inside my TNs.

Anyway, my obsession with TN’s has led me to explore different types from different local suppliers. Last year, one maker I came across is called CN Paper Crafts. CN Paper Crafts is owned by Nissan and her boyfriend, Christian. Nissan said that her obsession with writing materials started when she was a kid and the hoarder tendency has translated to wanting to make notebooks herself. Thus, CN PaperCrafts was born.

The shop has recently celebrated their first anniversary and they have launched a project called #WriteBeautifully, a series of collaborations with Filipino bloggers. CN Paper Crafts’ vision is to make beautiful writing repositories to inspire people to write beautifully. In this digital age, they want to help preserve the art of analog writing, be it in the form of note-taking, journaling or planning. I’m very lucky to have been chosen to partner with them in this project because I too, believe in analog writing and want to encourage more people to go back to it even if there’s a slew of digital note-taking, planning or journaling options already out there.

Anyway, in this post, I’d like to feature the dark brown pocket size (or Field Notes size) Macata that I received from CN Paper Crafts last week. The shop sells several sizes of TN covers; A5, Standard, Personal, Field Notes or Passport size. Last year, I started using the standard size traveler’s notebooks and liked them. But recently, after seeing a lot of videos on YouTube of people using the pocket size version as both a wallet and a planner, I got encouraged to do the same. So, here it is!

Isn’t it just absolutely beautiful? It looks even more beautiful when the sunlight hits it.

The material used for the cover is not genuine leather though, which is actually preferable if you don’t believe in using real ones. It looks like the real thing though and there’s a certain texture to the material that I absolutely love. This particular package also came with the following:

• Weekly with grid insert, 100 gsm, white
• Dotted insert, 100 gsm, white
• Blank insert, 70 gsm, white
• Blank insert, 100 gsm, cream
• Hammer charm
• Light brown tassel

CN Paper Crafts also has different types of inserts available, with various layouts, sizes, and thickness as well. You can purchase them separately or as part of a set. Now, let’s take a look at the inserts I got.

Weekly with Grid Insert

I’ve been using this type of insert on my standard size TNs but this was my first time to try one in a pocket size. I wasn’t sure if there would be enough space for me to write on but it actually does. I’ll show you later!

Dotted Insert

I’m planning to use this when my dotted Victoria’s Journal insert is already full. I love dotted inserts! There’s so much you can do with it. I use mine for practicing my brush lettering while I’m out or simply just for taking down notes or listing down stuff.

Blank White Insert

This looks like a typical blank notebook. I plan on using this in my journal TN.

Blank Cream Insert

This is just like the blank insert in white, only that the paper is cream in color. But the big difference is on the thickness. This one is 100 gsm, which is better for certain pens.

Hammer Charm and Light Brown Tassel

You get to choose the type of charm or the color of tassel you want. They’re so cute!

My Macata Planner and Wallet Set Up

As I mentioned earlier, I wanted a pocket size Macata because I wanted to make it a planner and wallet in one. My other TNs or planners were too big and heavy to put in my bag. So, I figured going smaller would work better.

Here’s a closer look at how I’m using the Weekly with Grid insert. Among the inserts I’ve received, this is the only one I’m using now because I wanted to use the others in my other journal TN, which I made myself.

Normally, the two pages will already fit everything I need to write, including my work, homeschool and household to-do’s, appointments and chores tracker. But as you can see here, there are three pages instead of just two. That’s because for this week, I added another sheet of graphing paper on the left because I need additional space to track my son’s medicine intake. I just attached it on the left page with washi tape and it can be folded between the weekly and the grid page.

You can even fold it in between the next two pages (for the next week), which is exactly what I wanted because my son’s medicine intake will have to last for two weeks.

Anyway, you’ll see on the video that my Macata is pretty stuffed and that’s exactly how I like it. I love ’em chunky! And the best thing is that, even though, it’s chunky, if fits nicely in one hand and is not heavy at all. I love bringing it with me everywhere I go and it encourages me to #WriteBeautifully all the time. I am definitely hooked!
