Several weeks ago, I shared info about respiratory problems, such as asthma, when I blogged about the Omron Compair Nebulizer NE-C801 event I attended in September. Having a nebulizer at our home is a must because hubby and our two little boys have asthma. But little did I know that I would have to use our nebulizer too because of pneumonia.

Our one-year-old baby Zander got hospitalized for pneumonia during the last week of September. It was our first experience having a kid with pneumonia. But since Zander was still a baby (he only turned 1 two weeks before he got sick) and he just had Hand, Foot and Mouth Disease (HFMD) the month before, this experience was especially harrowing for us.

Zander was confined for 5 days in the hospital and during that time, one of the treatments the doctors and nurses did was to administer medicine to him via nebulization several times a day. We were also instructed upon his discharge to continue nebulizing him at home. It was such a timely blessing then that we received our own Omron Compair Nebulizer NE-C801 the week before for our review.

Omron Compair Nebulizer System NE – C801

The Omron Compair Nebulizer System NE – C801 was designed specially with kids in mind. It has the following features.

1. Reduce medication wastage

It makes use of VVT or Virtual Valve Technology, which produces fine medication for an efficient and easy nebulization. Fact is, when using nebulizers, a lot of the medication doesn’t get into the patient and instead becomes waste. But with this Omron product, the VVT produces the ideal particle size making the equipment deliver the optimal dose of medication to your child’s lungs to attain maximum therapeutic effect.

2. Safe and easy to use

Omron nebulizer kits are safe and easy to clean, have no small parts which can be hazardous to your child, and can be easily sterilized at high temperatures.

3. Child-friendly design

It’s handy design makes it easy to administer the medicine to kids. Plus there is a specially designed child mask included in the kit. It also boasts of low noise levels while turned on. It’s also very handy and portable, weighing only 270 grams.

The Omron Compair Nebulizer System NE – C801 comes with its own bag. Inside are two masks (one for adults, one for kids), a mouthpiece, and the nebulizer kit (inhalation top, vaporizer head, medication tank, nozzle and air tube connector). Of course, it also comes with its own power cord plus some replacement filters.

Our review of the Omron Compair Nebulizer System NE – C801

The size is what made me fall in love with this nebulizer. Compared to our old nebulizer, which was so heavy I can barely lift it with one hand, this one is super light a child will have no problem carrying it. It’s even easier to carry because it has its own bag. The bag opens and closes with a zipper. There is a pocket compartment inside to store the masks and mouthpiece, separate from the main compartment where the nebulizer kit and connectors are placed.

I love that the kit includes both masks and a mouthpiece, and that there is a separate mask for adults and kids. With our old nebulizer, we just used one size masks for everyone, which proved to be difficult when it came to nebulizing our baby because they were just too big for him.

Having the mouthpiece is also such a big help because Zander doesn’t like wearing the mask. We usually just hold it in place on his face, or when he refuses even that, we just let him use the mouthpiece instead, which he really likes. Take note that the mouthpiece is recommended for older kids though because the patient has to know how to properly breathe the medicine in and out for it to be most effective. However, in our case, we let him use the mouthpiece because it’s better to nebulize him with it than to not be able to at all.

This product works just like any nebulizer kit. It’s easy to assemble, use and clean. But the size makes it even easier to do all of those. Plus, it occupies a very small space on our son’s changing table, where we keep all his vitamines and medicines as well. Unlike older type nebulizers though, this one is truly less noisy. Some kids become scared of nebulization because of the loud noise. But with this one, they will not be too distracted with the noise anymore.

Lastly, I love the booklet that comes in the box when you purchase this product. Not only does it contain information about the nebulizer, its features, and its proper care, but it also explains a lot about asthma. This will be especially useful to parents who are not really knowledgeable about how to spot potential respiratory diseases on their kids and how to treat them.

Overall, we really love the Omron Compair Nebulizer System NE – C801 and recommend you to also check it out especially if you have family members with respiratory issues.

  1. We are also using Omron, but a previous model. This new one is very handy and portable. It would be great to carry this during travels! =)

  2. It is nice to know that they are improving their product. I like the child-friendly design and low noise level feature, nasa isip ko na maingay lagi ang nebulizer. Kudos din sa two masks, mahirap talaga kung one mask lang for everybody.

  3. Two of my boys have asthma thus we also bought a nebulizer. We got two so that they could have their own nebulizer. We also opted for Omron because it’s the brand our physician recommended as well as the brand the pharmacist recommended when we asked for assistance. Till now, our Omron is still functioning.

  4. I just recently both this nebulizer for my niece. Bought it from Watsons 🙂

  5. I have bought a nebulizer because it is very useful. But this Omron is super compact and it is perfect when traveling. Plus it’s less noisy, medyo maingay pa yong nabili ko eh heheh

  6. We don’t have nebu kit at home. We just borrowed from a cousin the last time we needed one (5yrs ago?!). Anyway, I’ll take note of this brand when we finally have to buy our own. Thanks for sharing?

  7. I like how compact the size of this nebulizer. Ours are still one that’s a bit bigger.
