Zoe and Ziya both love to write letters and draw pictures for me and Kai. I can’t even count how many we have received over the years. Let me share with you one from each of them, made for Kai, their stepdad whom they fondly call Papi (which is Spanish for father). They’re more of drawings than letters, though, coz that’s the best way they express their love.

Now, here’s my letter to Kai…..
Dear Kai,
It’s no secret to the world how much I love you and how amazing I think you are. I just want you to know that part of why I think you’re amazing is not just because of the way you love me but also the way you love the kids. You and I know that if I didn’t think you’d accept Zoe and Ziya as part of the package deal when we met, I wouldn’t have let you in our lives at all. I had to really make sure that you’d at least accept them as part of yours when I decided to have a relationship with you. I am pleased to know now that you have done more than that. I thank you for:
- loving Zoe and Ziya like your own
- sharing Zoe and Ziya with their Dad no matter how much it hurts to share sometimes
- for always putting their needs above your own
- for playing with them and making sure they have fun. I love how you have kept the child in you.
- for doing arts and crafts with them knowing that I’m just no good at those.
- for helping them with their school projects.
- for taking them to and from school even though you’re tired from work and lack sleep
- for always being the more patient one in dealing with them
- for recognizing what they need or want sometimes even more than I do
For all these things and more, I can definitely say I have chosen not only the best hubby but also the best stepdad a kid can ask for. And it is for these things that I know in my heart you’ll also be the best Dad to our little Ziggy. I love you so much.
You and the girls are lucky indeed 😉 but I am sure that the love you give is more than enough!
