It has been eleven days since I gave birth to Ziggy so technically the title of this post is not that accurate. However, I just had my first check-up yesterday and so I thought I should wait for that before I share what’s up with me since giving birth.
The check-up went well. It was actually shorter than usual since it was just a follow up check up. I was advised by my doctor to continue taking my calcium and iron supplements as well as my breastfeeding supplements. I have to go back after a month for another follow up so that we can then discuss my birth control options as well as take my first cervical cancer shot.
My OB-Gyne has just attended a workshop on cervical cancer the day before and apparently the healthcare industry is really promoting cervical cancer shots because of the increasing number of cases of cervical cancer in the country. The shots will be administered three times within a span of 6 months and thus will be quite expensive. There are actually two kinds of shots: one kind is against two types of cervical cancer while the other is to prevent four types of cancer. I should do more research about this. I certainly do not want to have any type of cancer. So, I think taking the shots, no matter how expensive, will be worth it.
Anyway, aside from the fact that I’m sleep-deprived and experiencing some baby blues, I’m doing well. Apparently, I have already lost most of the pregnancy weight!!!! I am only 2 lbs away from my pre-preggy weight. How did that happen???? I only gave birth a week ago. Miracles do happen. Haha!

I am so in love with my baby Ziggy and happy with the fact that he’s growing and is healthy. He’s just a joy to have. He started smiling the day after he was born and everybody just loves seeing him do it. But I’m proud of the fact that I was the first one who saw and heard him laugh the other day. I was taken by surprise because I wasn’t expecting him to laugh so early in life. But I guess, with the way that Ziggy came out into this world, nothing about what he does should surprise me anymore. He is just amazing and I am nothing but one proud mommy.
