Oh, this post is four days too late! But I was offline for about a week and so now is the only time I can post the latest updates on Ziggy. He actually had his 5 months birthday yesterday. Yahoo! But since this post is not about his developments this week but of last week, Week 21, I’ll just post about his birthday next week.
For Week 21, we planned on starting Ziggy with mashed veggies already but decided to hold off because we had to switch his formula. From Nan1 HW, we switched him to Isomil Advanced upon the suggestion of his pediatrician. This is because we noticed Ziggy has been screaming a lot from tummy aches and has been very gassy. Isomil Advanced is soy-based and not cow’s milk and so we were hoping he feel better with this. He seems to be lactose intolerant like Mommy. Too bad, but oh well, it’s in the genes, I guess. However, his experience with this new formula isn’t exactly better. He’s not as gassy as before but this formula has made him very constipated and of course, he cries because of that. I really feel for him and wish I could do something. We already gave him a laxative called Lilac, as recommended by his pediatrician. I think it helps a little but his poop is still too hard compared to when he was still on Nan1 HW. We have another doctor’s visit tomorrow so I hope we can get this sorted out already. I can’t take seeing Ziggy in pain. It makes me feel really, really bad for not sticking it out with breastfeeding although our circumstances during his first few months really made it hard to do so.
Anyway, Ziggy’s becoming more active now. The times when he’s awake in the daytime are much longer now. I notice that he’s also a bit impatient like Mommy (hehehe!). He always has to have somebody near to talk or play with him or else he gets bored easily. He also squeals in delight more now whenever he’s happy or in a good mood. That means his cries are also louder whenever he’s cranky or in pain. He’s still drooling a lot and although I can’t see signs of teeth in his gums yet, I’m sure they’re coming out really soon. I’m slightly worried though that he doesn’t know how to turn over yet. Zoe and Ziya learned how to turn over on their tummy when they were only four months old. Hopefully Ziggy will get there soon. He already knows how to turn on his side and so I guess he’ll be on his tummy soon enough.
Here are Ziggy’s Week 21 photos.
The week began with Day 141. Here’s Ziggy thumbsucking again! He actually doesn’t use his finger(s) or hand all the time anymore. He has discovered his toys! Yup, he picks them up and tries to puts them in his mouth. Luckily, all his toys are big so there’s no danger of choking.
Among all his toys, Ziggy loves the balls, especially this yellow one, which he got from one of my friends, whose son had a birthday party last month. He just loves holding this one! This was taken on day 142.
Day 143 is a sleeping photo. No changes on his sleeping positions.
I was playing with Ziggy on day 144 when I took this photo with him and some of his toys. So adorable smiley face. Makes my heart melt.
On Day 145, I took a photo of Ziggy with Daddy Kai. Ziggy just loves cuddling with his dad. I guess Ziggy misses Kai whenever he goes to work. Lately, he automatically cries when Kai doesn’t pick him up immediately when he arrives home.
Ziggy may not know how to turn over on his tummy yet but he sure knows how to sit, at least, when I prop him this way. This was taken on day 146.
Finally, on day 147, I took another photo of Ziggy with Daddy. Kai had just come home from work and here they are talking to each other. I just LOVE watching father and son interact!
My baby boy is growing up too fast! Is there a way to stop time even for just a while?
