I have always loved art and that’s why I highly encourage my kids to be creative. It’s not one of my strongest traits and so I’ve always been jealous of people who can really think out of the box and be able to make beautiful works of art. I guess, that explains one of the things I love about my hubby. He’s such a creative person and I love how he tries to encourage our kids to be the same.
Anyway, even though, I can’t make art, I still make an effort to support the industry. So, when I found out about Art in the Park from my hubby’s friend, Janeil (who’s an artist/architect/professor), I really took the opportunity to go there. It was held last February 18, 2012 at the Jaime Velasquez Park in Salcedo Village, Makati City. I really love it at that park. It holds many special memories and it’s just so nice to have the art exhibit there.

When we got there just an hour after it started, the place was already full of people. I’m really so glad to see such support for our local artists. Here are just some of the artwork displayed in the exhibit.
There were paintings, of course, such as these.
There were even stuff for kids such as these elephants. Actually, there were small versions of these, but of various animals, which Ziggy found amusing.

There were stuff for the home.

However, the things that I really enjoyed were the various sculptures. I think they’re amazing. Below are some of Pete Jimenez’s sculptures.

My most favorite sculpture of his, though, is this Her Mess. Hahaha! Love it!

What I find so interesting, though, is this sculpture maid of styrofoam. Too bad I forgot who the artist is but I admire him for being so creative. I was so shocked to find out it was made of styrofoam. How creative is this?!!!!

It was really just too bad that Zoe and Ziya missed this since they attended the birthday party of one of their stepsisters. Kai and I were able to bring Ziggy, though. He’s still too young, but I hope something about this event will rub off on him. I really hope he grows up to be as artistic and creative as his dad.
