A few days ago, I chanced upon an update posted by one of my former high school classmates on our batch’s Facebook group page. I was shocked to find out on that post that one my former classmates, Cathy Victor, is in a coma now at the Makati Medical Center for meningoencephalitis. I didn’t even know what that was. To put it simply, a virus she got from somewhere affected her brain (meninges), which caused her coma and suffering from Orofacial Dyskinesia.
She has been at the hospital since August 9, 2012 and hasn’t left. Needless to say, the hospital bills have piled up and Cathy’s family no longer has the much needed funds to continue her stay at the facility. She needs to stay at the hospital to buy more time for the doctors to find a cure for her sickness. They need to come up with a total of $ 50,000 and they only have eight (8) more days to do so. Cathy’s family has set up a fundraising page for more people to learn about her story and hopefully be kind enough to donate what they can to help Cathy. I appeal you to please visit her page by just clicking here or on the photo below. As of this writing, they have only been able to accumulate a total of $ 2,930 from this site. So, more help is needed as soon as possible. I’m sure Cathy and her family would appreciate any amount that you can donate.
For those who don’t have any extra funds right now, I’m sure it would also help a lot if you can just share this post or Cathy’s fundraiser page to anyone who you think can donate. Although Cathy and I weren’t close friends, she has always been very nice and friendly to me. She deserves to continue living. At the age of only 34 years old, this smart woman has yet to experience a lot of what life has to offer. So, please take the time to visit her page and donate.
Thanks a lot!!!
