Last November 8, 2012, I had the privilege of being one of a few chosen media people who were able to visit the Goldilocks Cake Plant at Shaw Boulevard, Mandaluyong City. It was truly a treat seeing how Goldilocks comes up with their delicious cakes and pastries. I’ll blog about the plant tour in another post. For this post, though, I’d like to share with you a new product that will soon be launched at Goldilocks.
As we all know, Ryan Agoncillo (who’s my former org-mate back in college) and his wife, Judy Ann Santos-Agoncillo, have been endorsers of Goldilocks for some time now. Apparently, both have grown up patronizing Goldilocks products. So it was but fitting for Goldilocks to partner with them, specifically Judy Ann, who has studied Culinary Arts, in creating a brand new Limited Edition cake for the company.
According to Judy Ann, she’s not a cake master but she was so excited for the collaboration nonetheless. For this new cake, she chose from an array of original Goldilocks ingredients and combined her favorites. She ended up choosing peanut butter, bananas (which she ate a lot of during her pregnancy), cashews (which she loved way back as a child living in Antipolo), vanilla and chocolate. Oooh, I love the combination!
Judy Ann did a demo on how the cake is made. Here she is with the first layer of banana butter cake, smeared with banana syrup and vanilla filling.
The second layer starts with black velvet cake, smeared again with vanilla filling and peanut mousse and sprinkled with cashews. (Are you drooling yet?)
The third and final layer is another banana butter cake. Judy Ann is shown here putting icing on the cake.
Can you see the dark, milk and white chocolate slices she placed all around the cake? So yummy! I honestly could hardly wait to taste the final product. Judy Ann may not be a cake master but she certainly looked like a pro during the demo!
Here is Judy Ann gamely posing with the final product!
Hubby Ryan was excited to taste the cake. Here he is with Judy Ann as well as with Goldilocks Marketing Director, Ms. Pinky Yee.
Ryan and Judy Ann graciously served slices of the cake to the media. Here’s my slice. My verdict: HEAVENLY! It is truly a perfect combination of ingredients. I just love the combination of peanut butter, banana and chocolate! Plus, it’s not too sweet. Judy Ann mentioned that she’s not really fond of pastries that are too sweet. She said that this cake is actually a reflection of her personality, her childhood and pregnancy. Nice!
The only thing I don’t like is the fact that it’s a limited edition cake and so time will come that this won’t be available on the menu anymore. Let’s cross our fingers that Goldilocks will decide to put this cake on the menu forever!
Of course, I couldn’t let the day pass without taking photos with Ryan and Judy Ann. It has been so long since I last saw Ryan. I could still remember working with him in various projects back in college. It was so nice to be able to see him again.
It was nice meeting Judy Ann too! She’s gorgeous and sexy, to say the least. Plus, she’s very talented in the kitchen. I really hope that she’ll create more cakes for Goldilocks in the future.
We were so lucky that Goldilocks didn’t send us home empty-handed. All of us got our own mini version of the Chocolate PB Banana Supreme. I was so happy about that because I got to share it with my family. Oh, how my hubby and kids loved it! I definitely recommend for all of you to try this.
The Goldilocks Chocolate PB (Peanut Butter) Banana Supreme will be available in Goldilocks stores starting November 15, 2012. Again, this is a Limited Edition cake so better head on over to your nearest Goldilocks bakeshop and order it while you can!
