A few months ago, I attended a workshop on homeschooling preschoolers organized by The Learning Basket, conducted by Mariel Uyquiengco. I was really interested to homeschool my son and so I took that opportunity to learn more about it. In that session, I learned that the everyday activities that I have already been doing with Ziggy were already homeschooling sessions. He was learning new and useful things that will help him navigate life. I was thrilled to find out that we were on the right track and that made me even more determined to seriously consider homeschooling him at least during his preschool years.
If you’re also curious about homeschooling, you’d be happy to know that The Learning Basket is holding another workshop soon. It’s called You Are Your Child’s First and Best Teacher to be held on Saturday, March 23, 2013, from 9:00 to 11:00 am at the Medela House, New Manila, Quezon City.
According to Mariel, this workshop is “for parents of children ages 0 to 3. It’s perfect for first time parents who may not yet be confident in their parenting skills and who want to connect with other parents. It aims to help parents support their children’s development by exploring the mindset of being the first and best teacher, discussing the basics of child development, and providing examples and ideas of appropriate activities for each developmental level. It would be a good venue to share experiences and connect with other parents”.
Event sponsors include Mama Chows, who will provide the FREE snacks, while Wonderworld will be holding a special raffle for the participants.
I do believe that I, as my kids’ mom, am the first and best teacher for them. Do you believe that you are the first and best teacher to your kids too?
