Growing up I never thought that one day I’d end up being an event coordinator. I didn’t even know there was such a thing. But as fate would have it, I ended up organizing events ever since I started working after college. It was then that I discovered that I loved it! It shouldn’t have been that much of a surprise actually. I was always the one organizing reunions and parties among my family and barkadas. And as my former boss always used to say, I am very OC.
I’ve done events from the years 2000 – 2010. Wow, that’s 10 years. Back then, I dreamed of owning an events company one day. I only stopped doing events (and working full time) when I got pregnant with Ziggy. That was when I became a WAHM. It was a welcome change. By then I was exhausted doing events, among other things. Organizing and managing events is no easy feat. Most of the time, it requires long hours. I loved doing them though because they were fun. Doing events gives me a certain “high” that I can’t explain. But after 10 years of doing it, it was time to take a break.
It has been 3 years since I’ve organized a professional event. I have to admit I do miss it too. I love being a freelance writer and being a virtual assistant helps pay the bills. However, I thought it would be kind of nice to start doing events again. Besides, it’s a talent of mine. I used to excel at it. So, why not do it again, right? Well, I figured as long as I can still do most of the work at home and only go out of the house when needed, then it’s something that can possibly work out. So, when I was offered an opportunity to do just that, I decided to take the chance.
Yup, I’ll be organizing events again, this time under Manila Workshops. If you’ve been reading this blog long enough, you’d have seen me post about workshops I’ve attended organized by Ginger Arboleda and her team of event directors in Manila Workshops. Ever since they started, I’ve always been interested in joining their team but couldn’t really because I was already busy with clients. But as fate would have it once again, I now have some free time to allot to this endeavor.
So, yay, I’m the newest addition to the Manila Workshop team! I’ve already started helping me out with a few workshops and you’ll no doubt hear a lot about them here on the blog. So stay tuned for those posts. Wish me luck as I venture into the event management world again!

Congrats Janice!
So happy for you. I can’t wait to attend your upcoming events. 🙂
