Last January 4, we had no plans of going out of the house. However, since it was the last weekend before school starts again after the holiday season, I really wanted to take the kids out. So, I convinced the hubby to take us all on our first road trip for 2014 – ย to Tagaytay because it was too hot in the city. Plus I really wanted to go to Sky Ranch Tagaytay.
We have never been to Sky Ranch before, which is exactly why I wanted to go. Plus, it’s something that I knew the kids would enjoy, a last hurrah before school starts. So, after doing all the chores that Saturday, off we went to Tagaytay late in the afternoon.
My initial plan was to have dinner at the Mahogany Market first because I was craving for bulalo. However, we got stuck in traffic for at least an hour at the main road in Tagaytay all the way to that street heading to the market. It was dark already and maybe it was the combination of that and our hunger that we missed the turn to Mahogany.
Lucky for us, though, that we chanced upon simple bulalo restaurants at the end of the road. That’s how we ended up at Bulalo Point. There were several cars parked at the restaurant’s parking lot so we figured a lot of people liked to eat there. So, we gave it a try.
Bulalo Point
Bulalo Point is a really simple open air restaurant. I imagine that during the day it has an amazing view of the Taal Volcano but since we arrived there during dinner time, we were not able to see the volcano at all. But, we loved the cool weather. It was actually nice to wear a jacket for a change. Plus, the service was not bad at all.
We ended up ordering Lechon Kawali, Fried Boneless Bangus and of course, Bulalo.
For a really simple place, the food was really good. The Bulalo was not a disappointment at all. Most high end restos in Tagaytay will charge at least Php 500 for a bowl but at Bulalo Point, the special Bulalo only costs Php 300. The menu said it was good for only 2 – 3 people but it was more than enough for our family of five (and I had several servings). I LOVED it!
After we stuffed ourselves full, off we went to Sky Ranch. As expected, there were a lot of people and the hubby had a hard time finding a parking spot. But eventually he did and we finally got to go inside.
Sky Ranch Tagaytay
I was expecting to pay Php 500 total for our entrance fees because the ticket costs Php 100 per person. So, I was surprised when we were told that there was a promo price of 50% off at that time. Plus, since Ziggy’s only two years old, he gets to go in for free. So, we only ended up paying Php 200 in total. Yay for savings!
Now, here’s a tip for those of you who want to visit Sky Ranch in the future. There are only two ticket booths inside where you can buy tickets for the rides. The lines can get really long. So beforehand, decide already which rides you plan to take so that you can buy all the ride tickets you need in one go, which is what we did. Saved us a LOT of time.
The first ride we went on was the carousel. How can you go to an amusement park without going on the carousel? Surprisingly, this was one of the rides that didn’t have a long line. Ziggy’s still a bit scared of riding the horses though so he and the hubby just stayed on one of those rocking “chairs”. We really enjoyed it even if it was such simple ride.
Next up, the hubby and Ziggy went to line up for the train ride, which took them about an hour! The ride only lasted 10 minutes and it goes all around the Sky Ranch property. But it made the little boy very happy so in the end it was worth the wait.
While waiting for the boys to finish their train ride, I took the girls to ride the Red Baron. They felt they were already too old for this ride but they gamely rode it anyway since there were no other rides they were willing to try.
Our last and most highly anticipated ride though was the Nessi Coaster. The five of us have never ridden a roller coaster all together before. But since this was really a very tame one, Ziggy was allowed to ride it with us so that made it more exciting for all of us.
Oh how we all loved it! And oh how we all loved screaming. Hahaha! It was also such a thrill seeing Ziggy’s reaction. We truly enjoyed it and wanted to ride it again because it was just a short ride and we wanted more. But it was already 11 pm by that time so we just went home after that, with a promise to the kids that we’ll come back next month when we celebrate Ziggy’s and my birthday.
All in all, it was a short but truly enjoyable first road trip for the year. I was so happy making nice memories with my family. I can hardly wait for our next road trip in a couple of weeks ย – to Subic!
Have you and your family taken a road trip lately? Where did you go? Do share!

Whoa! I have never been to Sky Ranch. There’s always a lot of people and the parking sucks. Maybe I should check it out sometime this year, noh? I want to try the roller coaster too. Until when is the 50% off entrance promo?

You’re right about the parking. So, I guess it would be best to arrive early. ๐ Sorry, but I wasn’t able to ask until when the 50% discount will last. ๐

It is good that your kids love the rides. I, on the other hand, could not take these rides. I easily gets dizzy and throw up.

My daughter wanted to ride Nessi Coaster too, but the oldies (that’s Mama and Tita) won’t hear of it even if my cousin and I would accompany her in the ride. Lol. Maybe next time. And we loved the carousel too! ๐

Hi Ms.Janice what would be the best time to go to skyranch? tnx
Hi Mari. We went on a weekend so there were really a lot of people. I’d say you try going on a weekday and go as soon as they open so that you won’t have to wait in line for a long time. ๐
