Two weekends ago, we had the pleasure of going on another road trip to Tagaytay wherein we stayed at the Taal Vista Hotel.  I mentioned on that post that we ate A LOT during that weekend and promised to post about some of our food trips during that time.

So, let me share with you our breakfast experience at the Bag of Beans come Sunday morning of that weekend.

The Ambience

I haven’t been to Bag of Beans in the last four years and so I had no idea how much it had changed since then. I used to frequent it a lot during the first few years since it opened and I already loved it then although the place was still small and not a lot of people knew about it yet.

But of course, as expected, more and more people came to know of Bag of Beans and because of that they’ve had to expand the place. Yet, I had no idea what it would look like after the expansion. I was so delighted with what I saw!

This was the courtyard we entered. On the photo above, you’ll see the gate where the entrance is and beyond that is the parking lot. They didn’t have that big a parking lot before!

It’s also not that obvious on the photo but immediately upon entering that gate, you’ll already see seating areas to your right and left apart from these ones along the hallway. They’re so cozy and some even have sofas for you to lounge on.  There are seating areas that are open air while others are enclosed.

Our family reserved tables in one of the enclosed areas, which looked like this. I love the large wooden tables and chairs and the country feel of the entire area.

Even the table arrangements were simple but lovely.

From our table, we had a nice view of this outside seating area.  That enclosed area at the back is where they serve the buffet.

This outside seating area also featured a large swing (which I totally loved!) beside a large bird cage. It’s just too bad we couldn’t stay long there. Sorry, I wasn’t able to take a photo of the birds too.

I did get to take a photo of this though. Apparently, Bag of Beans sells various fresh herbs too. Love it!

The Food

I wish I can tell you that I was able to take a lot of photos of the food. Unfortunately, I wasn’t able to take a lot of them because we were all hungry by then and we were in a hurry to finish eating so that we can go back to Taal Vista and finish packing in time for our early check out at 11 a.m.

I can tell you though that the menu at Bag of Beans has developed a lot over the years. They only used to sell pies and bread. Now, they have full meals already just like the breakfast we had that day. They actually have both a breakfast and brunch buffet but we chose to order ala carte that day instead.

I chose to have a Filipino breakfast and got the Beef Tapa meal. For the price, I didn’t expect the serving will be that big but I almost wasn’t able to finish it. And I was hungry then. It was very yummy too but part of me wished I ordered a pie instead since we seldom get to go to Bag of Beans these days.

Ziggy got the Funny Face, which is this chocolate pancake with a smiley face. He did like it but also wasn’t able to finish this one because it was quite big for my toddler. We ended up having to take most of it back to the hotel because the hubby and I didn’t have space for it in our tummies anymore.

Of course, I ordered overflowing coffee, which is something I really love about this place. I love great coffee and Bag of Beans will not disappoint you in that aspect.

Also, don’t forget to take home some freshly baked bread! I love their bread. That day, we took home a loaf of wheat breach, chocolate chip bread and chocolate oatmeal cookies. Yum!!!

Overall, it was a pleasant dining experience. The portions were really big. The food was yummy. It was good value for money. I just wish I was able to explore the place more. There was an entire area at the back that I wasn’t even able to see. That just means we have to go back there soon!
