If you watch TV, chances are you get bombarded by lot of TV commercials. The types of TV commercials vary from the very silly and corny ones to the more informative and useful ones that really connect to us in a more personal level. One of the brands that I think does this successfully is PLDT Home DSL.
It is therefore not exactly surprising that their latest TVC has also gained attention and that the talents have inevitably gained popularity as well. I’m talking about seven-year-old Diego Ledesma, of the uber popular Ask Diego advice page on Facebook, and the rest of the Ledesma family, composed of the parents, Paulo and Lara, as well as Ate Trisha.
Recently, an article was posted on www.philstar.com entitled “Diego is PLDT Home DSL’s Latest Star Celebrity”. The article by Ricky Lo points out how PLDT Home DSL has catapulted the Ledesma family to fame and I definitely agree. Apparently, people just love the idea of a cute seven-year-old boy giving advice on just about anything on Facebook, with the help of his parents and sister. The Ask Diego page has now reached over 253,000 fans. With that number, one can definitely say that Diego and his family have definitely achieved stardom.
The article goes into detail about where people have been seeing the Ledesma family these past few months such as on their recent guesting on GMA 7’s top-rating shows, The Ryzza Mae Show, where Diego was seen doing selfies with Ryzza Mae. They were also on Eat Bulaga and charmed Vic Sotto and Regine Velasquez whose son Nate, according to the article, is “smitten by Diego’s charm”. You know you’ve reached celebrity status when more prominent celebrities also become enamored by you, right?
Apparently, they’ve also attended a movie premiere of X Men: Days of Future Past as well as the PBA Finals on Mother’s Day, where adoring fans excitedly took photos of Diego and his family. I don’t think that the article was exaggerating when it says that the fans, young and old alike, “mobbed” Diego because we were also able to see the Ledesma family three times this summer.
We saw them during a special blocked screening of two movies, Heaven is For Real and The Amazing Spiderman 2. We also got to skate alongside Diego and Trisha at the SM Moa Skating Rink during PLDT Home DSL’s Frozen Skating Party. On all those occasions, the entire Ledesma family gamely posed and took photos with their fans.
It was so nice seeing them bond and have fun as a family, just like in their TVC where we see them at home enjoying their family-sized broadband connection, which they use to stream movies, play games games and yes, give advice on Facebook! I definitely agree with the article when it says that the Ledesmas are the perfect example of today’s family. Clearly, Diego and his family deserve to be called celebrities in their own right.
