We were so excited to go on our Canyon Woods vacation mainly because it wasn’t just the five of us who will be going. We went there two weekends ago with my mom, one brother and his family, another brother and his girlfriend, my aunt and his son.

It was going to be the last family vacation we were going to have before my youngest brother and his family relocates to Davao. So, you can understand how important this event was to us. Add that to the fact that among us all, it was only my aunt and cousin who have been to Canyon Woods before. My Aunt is a member. It’s a private resort for their members. However, members are allowed to bring in or endorse their guests to stay there too.

We left Manila on a Saturday and headed first to Paradizoo. Around lunch time, we were already on our way to Canyon Woods at Laurel, Batangas.

Immediately after entering the gate I already felt a sense of calm and quiet. There were pine trees everywhere and the air was crisp and cool. You wouldn’t think that bustling Tagaytay was just nearby.

There were also log cabins along the road. Lots of plants and flowers. Everything is clean, quiet and peaceful. If this was a real neighborhood, I would love to live here.

Since check in wasn’t until 3 pm, we went to the clubhouse first to have lunch. We chose to enjoy the buffet although ala carte meals were also available.

The kids loved the comfy lounge areas.

SAMSUNG CAMERA PICTURES

I love that the dining area was spacious and that there were glass windows and doors everywhere so guests can see the lovely view.

If you’re not content with the view from indoors, you can go out to the balcony instead.

The clubhouse also has several other amenities such as a spa, a fitness gym, salon, function rooms for events, clinic, mini theater, play area/fun center, heated indoor swimming pool and jacuzzi.

Before, the main accommodations at Canyon Woods were what they call the Casitas. However, they already opened several floors in their new hotel called The Peak. That’s where we all stayed.

The rooms all have two double beds each.

SAMSUNG CAMERA PICTURES

Plus a small sitting area.

SAMSUNG CAMERA PICTURES

It also had other typical hotel room features such as a bathroom ….

…. flat screen cable TV, flat iron, safety deposit box, refrigerator and coffee and tea making facilities.

The rooms at The Peak also have a veranda and from ours you can see the pool down below.  This one has a small area for the kids. We didn’t get to try swimming there though because the water was way too cold for us.

SAMSUNG CAMERA PICTURES

The veranda was also where hubby took this amazing sunset photo.

Because we only got to stay overnight, we didn’t get to explore the entire Canyon Woods property where you can also find a golf course, tennis and basketball courts, and another outdoor pool. Apparently, there’s also an area for other water activities like kayaking.

We did, however, spend a lot of time at the clubhouse. We spent most of our time at the HEATED INDOOR SWIMMING POOL. Yes, I capitalized it because that’s how much of a big deal it was for me. Haha! You see, Ziggy and I had a cold that time and so swimming in a cold pool wouldn’t have been ideal. And we were so happy with this pool. Just look at it!

SAMSUNG CAMERA PICTURES

I think everyone at Canyon Woods that time preferred to swim here. But it never got too crowded. I’d like to specially mention that their lifeguard was very attentive too. At one point, one little girl drowned and no one, not even her parents, saw her. But the lifeguard did. That gives this place one million plus points, if you ask me.

SAMSUNG CAMERA PICTURES

Oh, and take note that they’re very strict in terms of wearing only proper swimwear in the pool. Also, those whose hair reaches at least 2 inches below the ear lobes are required to wear swimming caps. You can either rent or buy them.

SAMSUNG CAMERA PICTURES

But what I loved most is the jacuzzi right beside the pool. Only those who are 12 years old and above are allowed to use it though. Just look at how heavenly it looks.

SAMSUNG CAMERA PICTURES

I loved it so much there. It was so relaxing. Hubby and I were able to spend a few minutes alone at the jacuzzi while the rest of the family watched over the kids. I honestly didn’t want to leave. I really wish we had a jacuzzi like this at home.

SAMSUNG CAMERA PICTURES

Aside from the pool area, we were also able to explore the Fun Center a bit that night. The play area for smaller kids was already closed but at least we got to enjoy using the pool tables.

SAMSUNG CAMERA PICTURES

It was a super fun vacation, one we will always treasure. There’s still a lot left for us to explore at Canyon Woods though so we’re looking forward to our next trip there.

In case you’re wondering, there’s no WiFi in the rooms. If you need to go online, you can do so for free at the lobby of The Peak or at the clubhouse.

SAMSUNG CAMERA PICTURES

But who needs WiFi when you’re at a place like this? Take advantage instead of the amenities and spend as much time with your family just like we did. ‘Til next time Canyon Woods!

  1. And I was just talking about being a helicopter mom when it comes to the swimming pool! Iba talaga ang tutok. But yes, plus points to the lifeguard.

Anyway, is this different from Canyon Cove? It is, right? We’re talking about a different vacation trip on this one, yeah? hehe

And yes, Canyon Woods is different from Canyon Cove. They’re owned and operated by the same company though. Canyon Cove is the beach resort. 🙂
