I’ve always said that I’m not an artistic or creative person. I don’t draw, paint, sculpt or whatever. But lately I’ve been in a “creative rut” so to speak.
Maybe I was just getting tired of writing the articles that I usually write. So, my mind was looking for something else fun to do.
Then one day, about three weeks ago, I came across some Instagram posts on really cute planners. I decided to widen my search about it. I discovered that there’s a HUGE community of women, not just in the country but in the whole world, who love to decorate their planners. Then, I remembered I used to love to do that too when I was in high school and college. I only stopped when I started working because things just got too busy. Besides, I was told that having “cutesy” planners wasn’t something a professional would do.
Anyway, back to my discovery, I found out that that these women really thrive on planner decorating. They support each other. A lot of businesses on planners and planner supplies have sprouted all over Instagram and Etsy because of this “addiction”. And yes, they love to call themselves “Planner Addicts”, well, because they are.
All of a sudden, I found myself wanting to “create”. I proceeded to decorate my BDJ planner with whatever crafting supplies I could find at home. This was my first attempt.
Then an addiction was born! I continued to decorate and I couldn’t stop. I enjoyed it so bad I even created a separate Instagram account for this hobby. Then, I realized I could create a whole new category about it on my blog as well. After all, I’ve been approached several times before by different brands of planners to feature their products on my blog. Why not make it “official”, right? So I continued to post on Instragram and shared how I decorate my planner every week. Β
First half of my week on my planner. Loving my color combo this week plus the super cute bunnies and polka dots. #planningforpleasure #planneraddict A photo posted by Janice (@planningforpleasure) on
Of course, I started to hoard planner supplies too (I said this is an addiction, right? Hehe!). I share my latest finds on my IG too and plan to feature some of them here on the blog such as these.

I’m really super thrilled that I found a new creative outlet. I know it sounds like an expensive hobby. Hahaha! But I say it’s all about finding the best places for the best deals on crafting supplies. Sponsors are of course always welcome (hint, hint!).
Speaking of sponsors, I’ll give you sneak peek of my next #PlanningForPleasure post. Here it is. It’s so cute, isnt’ it?
Anyway, for those of you who love planners, journals and other paper products, do follow me on @PlanningForPleasure on Instagram. I’m actually gaining some followers over there already and most of them are people I don’t even know personally. They’re planner addicts like me. Haha! Hope to see you there too! Stay tuned to more of my planner posts here on the blog.
Wow! I’ve also always wanted to try “scrapbooking” my planner. I just couldn’t find the time. Followed you on instagram by the way! Can’t wait to see your posts! =)

Very cute! I’m trying to declutter though so I favor digital planners I can access on my phone these days π

I understand about decluttering. I tried using digital planners before but they didn’t work for me because I really love writing things down.

This makes me think of my grade school and high school days. My yearly planners are super decorated that they look more like a scrapbook more than a planner. It’s therapeutic and relaxing at the same time. It would be nice to do that again and your post is inspiring me to do so.

Yay, you should do it again. π I agree, it’s super therapeutic and relaxing. I can spend hours doing it. π

I LOVE planners! I used to have all kinds but now I use a planner I’ve made customized to my needs. I just don’t have the same dedication and consistency that I used to have.

You just reminded me that I want to put together scrapbooks for our photos! I’ve been wanting to do it for years but I never seem to have the time to do it. Now that I’m freelance again, maybe I will finally get to do it. π
Nice planners, btw. Looking forward to you launching your own brand.

Hey, that’s actually a dream of mine from way back – launch my own brand of planners. π It’s still a dream now. But who knows? Maybe I can turn it into reality in the future. π

I do this too. It feels really different than plotting at my Google Calendar. It feels more personalized and fun. π

Planners should be personalized so you will be encouraged to view, write and doodle on it. It was fun doing such thing ah! π

Having a well designed planner would surely encourage you to update it more. It also leaves a lot of room for creativity.

everyone becomes creative when he or she wants to be productive. He or she doesn’t want to be idle. Being creative is inherent for everyone and it will be tapped only once an opportunity so warrants.

I love planners ever since I was grade 5. They used to be called diary/journal. Hehe. Before, I was very decorative of my planner too but as I grew older, my planners became more of a “book of lists”. I needed to write down everything I need to accomplish for the day so i won’t forget.
I still make to-do lists on my planner too. It really helps to be more organized to get a lot of things done. π

The PNJPlanner looks so cute! I recently bought a planner too and so far, I love it. I stopped using planner 2 years ago because I mainly use my phone to plan my every day stuff. But I miss writing my plans on a notebook so I decided to buy a planner again. The stickers looks so awesome too.

Owwkaaay I can’t believe we just did the same thing! I just decorated my BDJ planner today with washi tapes! Haha, you won’t believe how many times I ripped the decors & tried new ones because I couldn’t decide. My husband thinks I’m crazy! LOL.

Hahaha! I totally get it. In the beginning I was super obsessed with getting the design right because I wanted it to look perfect, you know, just like the planners of the other planner addicts I stalk on IG. But in the end, I just had to accept the fact that I’m still a newbie and still have a lot to learn. Haha! Let’s keep going though. It’s fun anyway, right? π
