This year, my family and I had a chance to attend some of the Hot Wheels Make It Epic events. You can read about them here, here and here.

Hot Wheels is really a brand close to our hearts because our son, Ziggy, loves to collect them. You can bet my husband and I have been buying him one new Hot Wheels vehicle every pay day for the past few years and so you can just imagine how big Ziggy’s collection has grown. One thing he didn’t have yet though was an actual Hot Wheels track. Hubby has made Ziggy a DIY play city with roads and bridges and stuff but none of them has the capability to launch cars, make them go fast or spin. Thankfully, Hot Wheels gave Ziggy his own Track Builder System so that he can kickstart his own collection.

Ziggy got the Starter Kit. It was in this new brown packaging. This is how it looks in front. As you can see, it says that this particular set is meant for kids ages 4 and above as there are small parts in the set.

HotWheelsTrackBuilderReview2

It contains one (1) vehicle and one (1) track set only although you can purchase additional vehicles and tracks separately. Take note though that not all Hot Wheels vehicles are suitable for this. It also says that this set has new improved quality, meaning it uses more durable plastic, has increased structural integrity and added play value with pivot points.

Here’s what you can see at the back. The selling price of this set is at Php 1,799.75. The photos at the back of the box shows you the different ways you can build tracks using this set.

Unlike other toy boxes, you can open this box from the back by pushing on the perforated lines. Everything inside of course is still unassembled but it comes with a Builder’s Guide to help you out.

Here are the different parts that you will find inside. This kit contains 2 launchers, 2 speed curves, 8 road tracks (2 of which are used to form the 360 degree loop), several connectors, labels and 1 race car.

HotWheelsTrackBuilderReview5

I helped Ziggy build the track at first. I have to admit that this is something I normally don’t do. This is usually a bonding activity he does with his dad but I wanted to see if I can manage it. I’m happy to report that I was able to do it. Yay! The Builder’s Guide helped a lot of course. It shows you four (4) different ways you can build a track using this set. The written instructions also come with colored illustrations so even kids can make the tracks on their own if they wanted to. This one below is Build 1.

Ziggy had a grand time launching the car on the launcher. He loves that his Hot Wheels cars can now zoom really fast and even go around the loop.

HotWheelsTrackBuilderReview7

I wish I can show you Builds 2, 3 and 4. Unfortunately, I didn’t get to build those because the hubby took over and decided to experiment with the track set. I let him and Ziggy be. After all, with the Track Builder Systems, there’s really endless possibilities. You can create any kind of track you want and really Make It Epic at home. All you need to do is purchase additional stunt kits, launchers, jump kits, etc.

As you can see here, the track already looks somewhat different. Hubby decided to use this really long Hot Wheels orange track that Ziggy got from one of the events and placed it over the loop. So, it now looks like there’s a bridge on top.

HotWheelsTrackBuilderReview8

So cool, right? Just imagine how many other cool tracks you can create! Endless possibilities indeed.

Another cool thing is that storage will not be a problem with these Track Builder sets. All the accessories can be stored in this way.

HotWheels_MakeItEpic12

This will enable you to store the track and take it with you anywhere you go. We’ve never really had to do it though since Ziggy’s tracks are now a permanent fixture in his DIY city. Can you see it in this photo?

Overall, we’re all really pleased with this Track Builder System. They’re fun and easy to assemble and store. It provides your kids with endless fun while encouraging creativity in play. It’s obvious in the materials that the tracks are really made for hours and hours of play. The only downside of this system, if I really have to name one, is the fact that you’re going to need space to build big tracks, especially if you intend not to store them after play. Ziggy’s DIY city, for instance, is not that big. It’s really just a table that’s about 2 meters long and it already contains other stuff on it. So, if we purchase additional Hot Wheels tracks we’ll have no choice but to build it on the floor instead. But really, that’s where your creativity will need to kick in. For sure you’ll find a way to build an amazing track no matter where you choose to build it.

  1. Judah will love playing with Ziggy. He’s into cars and speed too. We’ve got tons of worn out tracks at home. We’re about to throw the last batch and get him a new one. That’s the problem, tracks don’t last with Judah. Maybe this one will.

  2. We have the long orange track too and I just hang it using a command hook but I prefer if I can put it in a box, but it is too long. Glad to know that this set has no storage problem.

    1. Yes, it’s so long nga! But I prefer hanging it na lang than putting it in a box. It’s harder for me or my son to take it in and out pa.

  3. My boys love HotWheels when they were younger. We have huge boxes full of HotWheel cars. What I like about these toys is that they are sturdy and of good quality. They do last long, unlike other toys that easily break.

  6. We love Hot Wheels, too. When I did our house cleaning the other day, I saw how many hot wheels the boys have collected over the years. Di na kailangan ng baby namin ng new toys. Ihihi. The boys especially love the Hot Wheels track we glued on the wall. No more set up na and eating up of spaces.

Your little boy and the father seemed so engrossed setting up the track. Iihihihi.

  7. wow, boys love cars talaga! Always, I can see that with my son as well! haha. Ah so you’re homeschooling your son, mommy? I’m considering homeschooling, I don’t know if I can, I don’t know if I should. And I’m trying to jot down the names of the homeschooling mommy bloggers (you’re one of them already) so I can maybe ask? or inquire if we ever decide to homeschool my son? hehe.

  12. Wow. That is expensive. It must worth the price since they already have a collection. I remember asking for a toy train from my father (complete with track) which he really bought for me, his daughter. It was fun then. I can imagine the thrill you son and hubby feel while playing.
