I’m now on my 22nd week of pregnancy. I’m halfway into the pregnancy and I finally look pregnant! Haha! Having gained only 2 lbs so far for the entire pregnancy, I haven’t really had to buy pregnancy clothes except for a pair each of maternity shorts and maternity jeans. I’ve been using my usual tops and dresses.
Now that I’m further along though, I’ve started to look around for new clothes because my chest size and belly have gotten bigger. I’ve decided though that instead of buying maternity clothes, I’m going to look for nursing clothes instead so that I can continue wearing them once I give birth and start breastfeeding. Better be practical, right? The timing was actually perfect when Great Kids PH invited me to visit one of their branches to check out their line of maternity and nursing wear, Great Expectations Maternity.
You might know Great Kids PH as Pois Belly & Kids. Yep, they’re one and the same although they’re in the process of rebranding now into Great Kids PH. As usual though they offer pretty apparel for girls aged 2-10 yrs old as well as for Infant Girls and moms. I went to visit their branch in Alabang Town Center a couple of weeks ago. Their store there is actually quite small so it was a bit of a challenge taking pictures but let me share with you what I found there.
There’s a good selection of really cute and girly clothes for infants and baby girls. But not only do they look stylish, they seem comfortable too, which is high priority for me when buying clothes for my kids.
They have a selection for older girls too. It’s just too bad my daughters are now already 13 and 14 years old and can’t fit into these anymore.
There were several Mommy & Me styles as well such as these really nice dresses. Perfect for that twinning moment! We don’t know the gender of our new baby yet but I’m really hoping for a girl. I’ve never experienced wearing mommy & me clothes with my two girls before so I’d like to try it out this time around.
But let’s focus on the maternity and nursing line, Great Expectations Maternity, because that’s what I went to the store for. There are a lot of comfortable yet stylish designs for maternity tops and dresses. There were some pants and shorts as well.
I love that the fabrics they chose to use are lightweight because I for one already feel too hot these days and the summer weather is not helping. I also like that there is a wide variety of styles and colors to choose from.
There was a good selection for both casual maternity wear as well as for more semi-formal or office types of clothes.
I like the selection of dresses. You can choose from a variety of lengths and styles as well.
These two on top were actually on sale. They’re very versatile because they’re nursing friendly so you can use it while pregnant until you’re already breastfeeding.
I really liked this red one because it would be nice to wear for dressier events as well as regular days out. Unfortunately, they didn’t have it in my size anymore.
Here’s a peek at the Great Expectations maternity/nursing clothes I got to try on.
Among these three, the gray one on the left was the one that came from their latest collection. All of them are lightweight, comfortable and easy to wear. I like the gray one because the material used was stretch fabric. It felt like I was wearing a really cozy but light blanket. I also like that the breastfeeding access is easier. No buttons to undo, just move aside the “flap” in front.
The blue and pink dresses were made of cotton and not as stretchy as the gray one. However, I feel like they’re more appropriate for warmer weather because the materials used were more lightweight. I also feel like their colors complemented my skin better. So, which one did you think I chose?
If you guessed the gray one, then you’re right! I chose that one because it looks more versatile. I can use it both on a regular day and for a dressier event. The other two were more casual looking. Plus, hubby said the gray dress hugged my curves better. Haha!

When I was pregnant with my now 10-month old boy, I didnt buy much maternity clothes because I feel they will be a waste of money. I only had a good two pairs of blouse and pants then about two dresses. On my last trimester, I felt prettier and more comfortable when in maternity because maternity dresses now are chic and stylish. I regret not buying earlier.
Anyway, I wish you good health and have fun with that big tummy because you’ll gonna miss it. Do not deprive yourself of those chic maternity clothes because you deserve them as well.
I like that they have nursing and maternity wears in one. That’s really so much more practical. I like the pink one. 🙂

Love the cute dresses! I wish I could find those clothes here. I need the nursing clothes. It’s difficult to find soem nursing apparels that would be effective for freely feeding a baby, even in public. 🙂
