Our five-year-old son, Ziggy, is obsessed with dinosaurs. So imagine his reaction when I told him that our entire family was invited to see the Dino Play exhibit at The Mind Museum. He was super excited, to say the least. Unfortunately for him, we had to wait for more than a week for our schedule to arrive because I wanted to make sure that our girls, Zoe and Ziya, will be available too because not only do we get to see Dino Play, we get to explore the museum itself too.

We’ve visited The Mind Museum before but Ziggy was a lot younger then so he doesn’t remember much about that visit. Now that he’s five years old, I knew the visit will have more of an impact on him. It also came at the perfect time because I’ve been looking for field trip activities that we can have as part of his homeschooling this quarter. Plus, I was also looking for a great bonding activity that our entire family of five can do together before our new baby is born and Dino Play was perfect for that.

Anyway, we went to The Mind Museum last August 7. We got there at 1:00 pm and there weren’t many people yet at that time. Dino Play is actually a travelling exhibit which will only be available at The Mind Museum until end of September. You can see it right outside the museum entrance. Here’s some of what you will see outside the exhibit area.

From the outside, you can already take a peek of what’s inside but of course it’s better to experience them all. Dino Play is an immersive and fascinating interactive exhibit designed for children 2 years old and above. It features massive and also small scale models, and real dinosaur fossil bones.

The first thing you will actually see when you go in is the area for the Dino Dig, wherein kids and adults alike can experience digging for dinosaur bones. I expected Ziggy to enjoy this and he did….

….but what I didn’t expect was for Zoe to enjoy it more! Haha! She’s already 15 years old but she loved doing this. She loved it so much she went back for a second time later in the afternoon. Just look at those clean bones. Yup, you can already see she’s OC like me.

There’s also a Dino Lab wherein you can examine different kinds of fossils.

Here’s Ziya doing exactly that.

Inside the Dino Fun area, there’s actually a lookout tower that kids can climb to look for dinosaurs with binoculars. Below that is this area where they can form dinosaurs out of puzzle pieces.

In the same area, there are a few tables with kinetic sand that you can use to form dino shapes. We really enjoyed this area as a family.

The last area is called Dino Den, where kids can dress up in dino costumes and leave dino footprints. This is the area little kids will enjoy a lot because there’s a slide and they can play dress up. Ziggy spent the most time here.

Here are the rates for your reference:

Dino Play only (No museum tour)
Adult – Php 100
Child / Student – Php 200

Dino Play and The Mind Museum (3-hour tour)
Adult – Php 700
Child / Student – Php 650

You can enjoy this exhibit for 90 minutes from these timeslots: 9:00 – 10:30 a.m. / 10:30 – 12:00 / 12:00 – 1:30 / 1:30 – 3:00 / 3:00 – 4:30 / 4:30 – 6:00. There is limited capacity so guests are welcomed on a first come, first served basis. Recommended for kids up to 9 years old with adult supervision.

Based on our experience, I suggest you go on an earlier time slot. The late afternoon time slots are usually when most of the guests come in so it can get a little hot and a bit crowded. What we did was, we went inside The Mind Museum after spending an hour and a half at Dino Play then we just went back for another half hour later before leaving for dinner.

Here are some photos of our time inside The Mind Museum.

There were some new stuff on display inside which weren’t there during our last visit. So, I suggest you go for the combined Dino Play and Mind Museum ticket if you really want to make the most out of your time there.

We had a super fun experience in Dino Play and The Mind Museum. We’re glad we didn’t miss it! You still have a chance to visit too so get your tickets now!
