Earlier today, we decided that it was high time we take Ziggy out for his second hair cut. He’s been getting irritated already whenever he feels his hair graze his neck. The hubby also needed a hair cut and so we decided to go to the nearest mall where there is a kiddie salon, for Ziggy’s sake. Thus, we ended up in Market! Market!. So, the boys got their hair cuts and we got to do some shopping. However, what I am really happy about is that we chanced upon the Mad About Books Book Fair 2012 event happening at the mall.
I did not know about that book fair and so it was a welcome surprise. We LOVE books and I highly encourage reading to my kids. Books can be expensive though and so we totally take advantage whenever there’s a book fair like this. Oh, it was heaven just being there browsing through all those books. There were a lot to choose from and some were even as low as Php 10.00! Another nice thing about the event is the arts and crafts area that they set up. It’s just too bad we didn’t have time to let the kids participate. However, we got to witness the storytelling session and the photo session with Clifford the Big Red Dog.
I must admit though, I didn’t really pay much attention to all those other things because I was busy looking for books. I found so many titles that I wanted to buy for myself. Unfortunately, I was on a budget and could only choose one for myself because I wanted to buy some for the kids as well. Here’s what we bought.
For Ziggy, I chose Feet Are Neat! by BEGIN SMART books. We’ve been teaching him the different parts of his body and so I thought this book would be appropriate. I will definitely start reading it to him tomorrow.
Ziya chose The Stolen Goblet of the Charmseekers series by Amy Tree. I think she chose it because of the free charm! She wants to collect all of them. So, I guess we’ll be browsing the book stores for more of those in the future.
Zoe chose the first book in the Geek Chic series called The Zoey Zone. I think she chose it because she and the main character have the same name, though spelled a bit differently. Also, the character is almost eleven years old already, same as her and so I think she could relate.
As for me, I grabbed four books for myself but ended up with only one, which is okay. I chose the 3rd book in The Immortals series, Shadowland by Alyson Noel. I’ve already read the first two books and liked it so much. That’s why I was ecstatic to find Shadowland on sale for only Php 100.00 and its hardbound. Imagine that!
All in all, I only spent Php 275.00 for four books. Not bad, if I do say so myself. Book sales are the best!
