For over a month now, we’ve been planning to have the girls switch rooms because their present bedroom is just too small for them and their things. How they were able to accumulate so much stuff, I really don’t know. So, we wanted them to transfer to the guest room instead. The guest room is usually what we let the household helper use whenever we are privileged enough to have one. Aside from that, it also functions as our storage room where we keep our “junk”. Having said that, you can just imagine how big a task it would be to clean out that room and transfer the girls there. Plus, don’t forget, we have to transfer the guest room junk to the girls’ old room as well. It’s such a big, tedious task that it took us several weeks to finish.
Okay, so maybe if we could just afford to spend one whole day doing nothing but transferring stuff we would have finished it already. However, without household help, we’ve been doing all the chores and taking care of Ziggy by ourselves. So, over the course of the last few weeks, the only thing my hubby and the girls have managed to do was transfer the girls’ clothes to their new room. That’s it. I wanted it done a long time ago but since I also could not set aside time to help them I really couldn’t complain…..until today.
Zoe and Ziya just got back last night from a weekend spent with their dad. This morning started out much like every other morning with breakfast and a few chores, until I caught a glimpse of the girl’s new room and the chaos inside it. There were trash, plus lots and lots of old stuff in it. The ironing board was still there along with a mountain of clothes that I have yet to finish ironing. Hangers were flung all over the bed. There was an old TV gathering dust in the corner. There was a broken lamp as well. The room was dusty and dirty and I just found myself screaming inside. I started barking orders here and there for the girls to fix their things and to carry out all the things in that room that didn’t belong to them. Afterwards I really felt sorry for them. They probably thought I was crazy, yelling at them all of a sudden for something that wasn’t their fault. I have to remember to make it up to them later.
Miraculously, I also found the time to help them out by taking out some stuff from the room, sweeping the floor and cleaning the shelves as well. My hubby was the one who took the big TV out and disassembled the bed. He put in our big sofa bed for the kids to use instead, which I think is a great idea. The girls usually stuff a lot of their junk under their bed making it hard for me to clean. Now, there is no more “under the bed” and all their stuff are now in boxes. Hopefully, they can maintain it that way. Also, there’s more space for them to move around since the sofa bed is folded up whenever they’re not sleeping. I must say my hubby had a great idea. The girls can now use their new room at last and it’s all thanks to me losing it. Haha!!!!
