One of the best things we can give our kids is a good education. That’s why it’s really important to pick the right school with the best teachers. The work that teachers do for their students is an essential part of our children’s growth and development. If you think about it, teachers are really our partners in bringing up our kids. Yet, do we really take the time and effort to thank them? Probably not.
So it’s really great that organizations like PLDT-Smart Foundation have made helping teachers their advocacy with the so-called Gabay Guro Campaign. What is the campaign all about?
Gabay Guro is an education arm and a flagship project of the PLDT-SMART Foundation. It is a program run by volunteers composed of executives from the PLDT Manager’s Club Inc. (PLDT MCI). It is the brainchild of MVP’s VP for Finance, Ms. Chaye Cabal-Revilla, and is supported by the PLDT-Smart Foundation of the Manny V. Pangilinan group.
For the last six years, Gabay Guro has been in the business of “changing the lives of those who changed ours” by focusing on the core program of the foundation benefiting the Filipino teachers. The core program is defined by the pillars by which Gabay Guro is anchored on – Scholarships, Trainings, Housing and Educational Facilities, Livelihood Programs, Broadbanding and Computerization and Teachers’ Tribute.
It’s a really great campaign that benefits teachers a lot. It’s something I believe teachers really deserve.
What’s also cool is that PLDT-Smart Foundation Gabay Guro (2G) will be celebrating Teachers Month by throwing the biggest tribute ever for our beloved teachers at the SM MOA Arena on October 26. It promises to be a spectacular event to be hosted by no less than Edu Manzano and Derek Ramsay, both TV5 artists. This annual gathering will also feature artists from both ABS-CBN and GMA-7 such as Ryzza Mae, Anne Curtis, Judy Ann Santos, Marian Rivera, Martin Nievera, Pops Fernandez and Rocco Nacino. PLDT-Smart Foundation Chairman of the Board of Trustees Manny V. Pangilinan and 2G Chairman Ms. Chaye Cabal-Revilla, will also be ther to lead the Gabay Guro Team and to lend their invaluable support to the teachers.
Two very lucky teachers will also win a house and lot courtesy of Stateland, Inc. and a brand new Foton L200 van. Other prizes include livelihood program and cash gifts. Wow!
