Birthday Greetings from Manila to New York!

I only have one sister, Joan, who is three years younger than I am. Growing up, we couldn’t have been more different from each other. We used to compare ourselves to the main characters of the Sweet Valley Twins series, Elizabeth and Jessica. I’m the Elizabeth-type, the conscientious, smart, quiet one who loves reading while she’s more like Jessica, who’s the more outgoing, cheerleader type. I guess, because of that, we didn’t grow up really close but nevertheless, we know we got each other’s backs no matter what. Deep down inside, we have a lot of similarities that neither one of us could admit.

She’s been living in the Big Apple for several years now and only comes home to Manila every couple of years. We all miss her, to say the least, especially today, her birthday. We all wish that we could be with her as she celebrates her special day. But since New York is a million miles away, I’m just sending my birthday greetings through this post instead. Happy birthday, Joan!!!!!! You may be all grown up now but you’ll always be my pesky little sister. Haha! Just kidding! We all love you and miss you. You’ve been such a great aunt to Zoe and Ziya. I hope you will get to meet baby Ziggy soon too. See you soon!
