Hubby and I haven’t really celebrated Valentine’s Day during the last couple of years, mostly because he always has work on the day itself and also because date nights are harder to come by now that we no longer have household helpers to tend to the kids. So, I wasn’t expecting this year’s Valentines’ Day to be any different. But I was still secretly hoping for a romantic date, just the two of us. Haha!
It was actually quite a hectic day because our girls were busy with their foundation day activities in school. Hubby had work ‘coz it’s a Friday. So, I was expecting us to stay home and not celebrate at all. But after hubby took the girls to school in the morning, he surprised me with this pack of chocolates, which he asked Ziggy to deliver to me. He even taught our boy to greet me a Happy Valentines Day. It was so sweet. That was the first Valentine greeting I’ve received from our not-so-little boy.
That very simple but sweet gesture prompted me to celebrate the day even with just a simple celebration. We ended up surprising the kids and taking them out for early dinner at McDonald’s, right after we picked up the girls from school. We only stayed there for less than an hour because hubby had to go to work but it was still a nice treat.
I just spent the night chillaxin’ on the couch, watching TV with the kids and eating these yummy Trader Joe’s cookies.
The next day was another hectic one because we had to go to the girls’ school for their family day celebration. According to the school principal, there weren’t a lot of grade school parents who came compared to the preschool parents who participated earlier that day. It’s really sad how parents seem to lose interest in attending school activities once their kids hit grade school.
But for us, we have to be in every school activity. I encourage my kids to participate in school activities as much as they can so I feel it’s also my duty to show my support by attending. For instance, I wouldn’t miss seeing Zoe perform again (she’s the one in the green shirt), no matter if I’ve already seen her perform numerous times since preschool.
I wouldn’t want to miss Ziya (the one in the green shirt in the front section of the photo below) enthusiastically join the games and revel in the fact that she’s no longer a sore loser now that she has matured. She now understands that it doesn’t matter whether you win or lose as long as you did your best.
I was so proud of my kids that day and so proud of us as a family for being complete during family day that I decided we should all go out again for a post-Valentine celebration. We ended up having dinner at Agave at the Bonifacio High Street. This is what we ate. Yummy! Will blog about this in another post.
As we were walking we saw this wall full of love notes and beside that another wall with some locks put there by couples. So cheesy but nice at the same time. Haha!
We also rode the Hop On, Hop Off bus for the nth time just to please our son who loves it so much! No photos this time though.
But I was able to take these photos of Ziggy riding the Timezone train. It was the first time he rode alone! I was so nervous that he won’t sit still and hurt himself, or cry and scream for me to come get him. But lo and behold, he didn’t do those things. In fact, he sat still and made friends with another little boy who sat beside him with his mommy. He did not cry or scream for me. Instead he joyfully waved as he passed by us. Oh my gosh. My little boy is indeed growing up and I have to learn to accept that.
We ended the day with sweet treats of course, this time at Krispy Kreme. They had all these Valentine-themed donuts, which made our three kids very happy.
And of course, we couldn’t leave Krispy Kreme without a balloon for the little boy, never mind if it’s pink.
Overall, it wasn’t the romantic Valentine’s date that I was hoping for but it was a great celebration nonetheless because I spent it with the four people I love the most.

Is that spaghetti at McDonalds? I’m going to look around your pages some more to find out where you live that they would be serving that. Fun!
I LOVE that you used Valentine’s Day to bond as a family. You are right that parent’s completely lose interest once their kids start growing and it’s very sad. Good for you to show your girls they are important to you.

It sounds like you had a wonderful Valentine’s Day with your family. Thank you for taking photos and sharing your day with us. When you’re a mama, you get to share your love with everyone not just your honey 🙂 We didn’t do anything special this year because we’re saving every penny for a trip this summer, just had a movie night at home <3

Your Valentine’s Day sounds like it was a lot of fun! Hopefully in the near future you and your husband can still have a date night since he had to work most of the time. We hung out as a family as well by going camping at the beach on Valentines Day. Another family came with us so the kids had so much fun playing together.

We didn’t celebrate Valentine’s Day with a date or fancy dinner. Hubby, our baby and I just had a mini celebration at home. But then, we still had the best day ever. Guess it really doesn’t matter if you celebrate it outside or not, the important thing is you celebrate it with the ones you love. Btw, you have a lovely family! And you sure look like you really had a wonderful time! 🙂
