My third week of homeschooling Ziya was all about changes. The main change was brought about by our decision to have Ziya go to her school on Fridays to take their P.E. classes as well as attend their weekly recognition day. So, last Friday we let Ziya do that, along with her big sister, Zoe, who continues to do regular school. Ziya had to wake up at 4:30 a.m. just to be ready for the bus when it arrived at 5:30 a.m. She hates this, which is why we decided to homeschool her in the first place. However, it’s okay with her if it’s only once a week. She was really tired though when she finally got home at 6:00 p.m. The good thing is that she enjoyed her day because she got to be with her school friends, who she hasn’t seen since school ended last March.
So, since Ziya’s in school on Fridays, we had to change our study schedule for Mondays to Thursdays. First off, Kai’s mom offered to teach Ziya too. She was a school teacher back in her day and so I think that it could only help Ziya more to have her as a teacher. My in-laws are the best! Hehehe. Anyway, we have decided to allot one hour every morning, Mondays to Thursdays, for Ziya’s session with her Grandma Ging. After that, she studies with me.
Another update is that we finally got Ziya’s science book from the school. So, this week we were able to use it and have been able to actually finish two lessons already. I really like this particular science book because of the interesting trivia it has per lesson. Ziya really finds them interesting, which makes studying the lesson easier too. I just noticed, though, that this book is more challenging than Zoe’s science book last year when she was the one in the third grade. Actually, the school changed a lot of their books this school year because they decided to further improve the quality of education in their school. Ziya’s books this year are all more challenging than Zoe’s books last year, and I’m actually pretty happy about that since they will be learning more.
I’m starting to get nervous though. I got a copy of the school schedule already for the rest of the quarter and it turns out that the final exams will be on the first week of August. That just leaves me a month left to teach Ziya all the topics for this quarter. Talk about pressure!
