Early this month, I stressed myself out downloading all my photos and old blog posts on Multiply all because the site announced that they will be removing all personal accounts already. The thing is, it was so hard to download everything! Although Multiply provided options on downloading, they didn’t work easily for me at all for some reason, despite the fact that I know I followed the instructions carefully. Stressful!!!!
I ended up downloading all photos ONE BY ONE. Yeah. Imagine how long that took – a total of 6 freaking hours!!!! For a second, I wanted to just let Multiply delete all of them but in the end I just could not bear the thought. I took all those photos for a reason – to have a visual reminder of every occasion I’ve documented in the past. A lot of those photos were those of my girls’ toddler years and first years in school. There were also travel photos and photos of my friends. The only copies I had were those I uploaded on Multiply. So, I really had no choice but download them all to my computer again.
The only items that were easy to transfer were the old blog post. Multiply provided an option to transfer them all to Tumblr. While I’ve never had a Tumblr account before, I readily chose that option thinking that it would be easy to just go through everything there and just delete them if I don’t feel like maintaining the account anymore.
Well, for the past couple of days, I’ve been tinkering with my new Tumblr account. It was incredibly frustrating at first because I wasn’t used to the new platform. I wasn’t expecting I’d become addicted to it but now I am! My gosh. So, now I’ve obviously decided to keep it. While I’ll continue to blog here on Roller Coaster Ride, I’ll also post some random stuff on my Tumblr account, which I call Ice Writes. It will not really be blogging but more of an album of sorts. Right now I only have very few new posts. Most of the blog posts there were those I transferred from Multiply, some way back 2007. Gosh! So, for those interested to read about my life back then, you’ll be able to get a glimpse of it from the old posts.
