I am about 34 weeks pregnant now. The fact that I could safely give birth in three weeks excites me beyond belief. However, those three weeks still feel like a million days away, especially whenever I see my feet and ankles.

You see, one of the things I DON’T look forward to in pregnancy is the swelling of the feet and ankles. It happened to me before during the 3rd trimesters of my pregnancies with both Zoe and Ziya. I was really hoping I won’t have to go through it again ever. Coming into my 8 month of pregnancy now, I was really in such high hopes that maybe it won’t happen again. But of course it did! I just noticed it last Sunday when Kai and I were on the couch watching TV. The sight is really not pretty. Not pretty at all!

Maybe I am overreacting a bit. But my normal shoe size is already 9″ or 9 1/2″, depending on the brand. It’s hard to find pretty and at the same time, good quality shoes in my size, especially here in our country where most women have feet that are only a size 5″ or 6″. Now I have to deal with this! Add to the fact that, although the swelling will subside once I give birth, my shoe size will probably get a bit bigger, permanently. Just imagine the dilemma of finding shoes for size 10 feet. Oh my gosh, my poor, poor feet!

  1. Hi! thank you for the suggestions. will certainly try them. congrats on your new blog, by the way. followed you already. 😀

  2. it’s a common thing when we are pregnant. don’t eat too much salty food, that causes edema. from time to time, elevate your feet, don’t stay too long in one position. it will lessen the swelling. i always do that before when i was pregnant with my little boy. and it really helped!

  3. Ohh, we’re on the same track kinda, i’m due 3/8 =)

ugh, i def hate the feet swelling part, for my 1st pregnancy my feet swelled from 5 months til i gave birth! thankfully it’s been coming & going w/this pregnancy & it hasn’t swelled as big as before. It’s funny bc when my Hubbi massages my feet he’s see his finger indent & be in awe! haha, men! But yea, it ain’t pretty!

congrats on the pregnancy btw, hope everything is going well.

  4. Hey Vivian, it’s really nice to know that I’m not alone. I have read a few of your posts from The Bump Tales and I really enjoyed them since your pregnancy symptoms are more or less the same as mine. Congrats on your pregnancy too. Let’s see who give birth first, me or you. 😀
