Don’t get confused when I talk about “my girls”. When I say that phrase I usually mean my daughters. However, for this purpose I’m actually referring to my girl friends from high school, whom I don’t get to hang out with that much anymore. Fortunately, one of them threw a birthday party for her son yesterday and so we all had the perfect excuse to see each other with kids in tow. Last week, we actually went out for dinner when our friend, Monalee, came home from Australia for a visit. This time, it was our friend Ina, who just got back from a visit to the U.S. Our group would have been complete if only our other two friends from Canada and the U.S. were also here.

I really enjoyed spending time with them yesterday especially our bonding moments wherein we updated each other with everything going on in our lives. For the longest time, I’ve considered these ladies my second family. Aside from experiencing high school together, we also went through so much as a group from boyfriends, break-ups, family troubles, weddings, marriage troubles, marriage break- ups, career and kids. I am truly fortunate to have been blessed with friends like them. I know that no matter where each of us will be, no matter how busy we are, we’ll always be friends and we’ll always be family.
