Oh I wanted so badly to post a class photo of my college block but unfortunately, I do not have the time to search for the hard copies. I don’t have them on digital file. So, I’ll just post our 4th year high school class photos instead, which a classmate of mine already posted on Facebook.ย
I studied at St. Scholastica’s College, Manila all throughout my high school years. It’s an exclusive Catholic school for girls and is run my Benedictine nuns (thus the title of this post!). I transferred to this school at the beginning of my freshman year and I was bummed because I came from a coed school before and I didn’t want to leave the friends I’ve made there. But oh well, I didn’t really have a choice back then. Although I enjoyed my college years more, it was in high school when I met my best friends, those who I’m still really close to now that we’re all in our thirties.
I was a busy, busy girl in high school! During my freshman year, I didn’t join any organizations because I was busy with my ballet class, which I also took in school every Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays after class. On my sophomore year, I stopped taking my ballet class and joined our Dance Club instead. Oh, I just loved to dance! But on my junior year, I didn’t continue with it because I wanted to concentrate on my academics. However, I also loved to sing but was too scared to try out for the Glee Club because they accepted only the best singers. On my senior year, I was finally brave enough to try out and guess what, I passed! Yahoo! It’s one of my greatest achievements in high school. Unfortunately, I also decided to give it up after a few months to concentrate yet again on my studies because I was really having a hard time with Physics (ewww!).ย
So, guess where I am in these photos.

Well, I’m the one on the far right side of the second row (from the bottom). Did you guess correctly? ๐Ÿ˜€ Now let me end this post with our school song, or our college hymn, as we used to call it.

Come loyal benedictine children
o come and let us sing
our voices raised with youthful hearts
with youthful hearts aflame
in praise of St. Scholastica
let these walls ring in accents bright
let these walls ring in accents bright
her glory, glory and her name
glorious Saint Scholastica o dove
who flew to heaven on wings of love
strengthen our wings who still are on the way
watch o’er our flight, for we are prone to stray
we stand here and salute thee
alma mater, alma mater
we stand here and salute thy noble aims
thy noble aims
no matter where we roam thy spirit ever
alive within our hearts thy name proclaim
