A couple of days ago, I blogged about looking forward to the arrival of our new housekeeper. She arrived as expected on Tuesday morning and my mom picked her up from the bus station. Later that afternoon, we (the kids, Kai and I) went to my mom’s house to get her. The moment I saw the housekeeper, I new it was going to be a disaster. I was right.
It turns out that she had been crying during the 24 hour bus trip going here to the city. Though she told my mom she really wanted the job (even her mom told my mom that she wanted the job), the truth was that she had apprehensions. She said she cried because she misses her family already. I can understand that and I can sympathize with that. However, what I don’t get is why she committed to accept the job even when she knew she couldn’t possible survive without her family nearby. At my mom’s house she was crying so bad, asking to be sent home. But, of course, she didn’t have the funds. The girl had the nerve to ask my mom to lend her the money when she already owes us the money she used to travel here. Grrrr!
To make the story short, she’s still here at home with us but she’s only working for about two weeks so that she can pay off the cost of transportation that we shouldered. That means that we have to search all over again for a replacement. To make matters worse, she’s not even doing a great job around here. Honestly her presence just bugs me. How come there are people like that? We feel used and abused. I wish she just decided not to take the job before she left to come here. If it only weren’t so hard to find a good helper, I would have let her go home already. It is so frustrating!
