I don’t know about other moms but I’m one of those who get all sentimental and teary-eyed whenever I witness my hubby and son have one of their bonding moments. Maybe it’s because I’m really sentimental by nature or maybe it’s because I don’t really have a good relationship with my own dad right now. Maybe there’s just something really special between fathers and sons that tugs at my heart. So, whenever I get to bear witness to these special moments, I immediately start shooting away to capture them with my camera phone.

Here are just some of those moments that I was able to capture recently.

This was taken at the mall. Whenever we go to this place, Ziggy would always insist on stopping by this fruit shake stand to buy some apple juice. And every single time, the hubby would oblige. It’s their thing.

These next three were taken one morning at McDonald’s where we had breakfast that day. Ziggy was in a good mood and gamely posed for these shots. They’re so adorable, aren’t they? In a few years time, I doubt Ziggy would still be willing to pose like this with his dad or even with me.

There was another time when we were at McDonald’s yet again that I took this photo. It was after our meal and Ziggy decided to play with his toys. Hubby patiently watched him, like he always does. Oftentimes, he’d join Ziggy and teach him a lot of pretend play. He’s so good at teaching Ziggy to be creative and think out of the box. I wish I had their imagination.

Last Sunday, we were at my sister-in-law’s place with the rest of the family. Hubby planned a baking activity for all the kids to do. It didn’t really go as planned though and he ended up baking just with Ziggy while I slaved away and worked with my laptop on the dining table. Ziggy excitedly stirred the batter. I just enjoyed watching how my hubby patiently taught Ziggy what to do. He’s always teaching Ziggy something new and I love that.

Looking at these photos make me wonder: would they still bake or play or do random things together when Ziggy grows up? Will they still have these daddy moments?  I can only hope and pray that the answer to these questions is “yes”. I pray for more moments like these and that I’ll always be around to capture them.

  1. i can relate to this post. i like to capture every moment / milestone of my daughter specially those with her dad so that one day when she grows up, she can reminisce how close they are. you see, i envy those children / people who’s close with their dads ‘coz i am not. my dad was an army (just retired this year) so he seldom comes home. only on some occasions where he’s able to have R&R, that’s the only time we bond but overall you can only count the times spent with him on my younger days. now that i’m a mom i see to it that my daughter spend some quality time with hubby when he has no work, me being trigger happy with the camera, happily captures those precious moments. ‘coz time flies so fast we don’t realize our babies are growing fast and they will not have time for us anymore because they will have their own set of friends and other interest to attend to.
