Walnut Melbourne-Philippines Review (and Giveaway!)

I don’t know about you guys but as a mom, I always make sure that whenever I buy something for my kids, the product has to be the best that I can afford because I feel that’s what my kids deserve. This is especially true for items that aid in their growth and development. For me, it’s quality over quantity for items like shoes, for example.

As we all know, our kids’ feet are constantly growing and developing along with their walking and other motor skills. So, I feel that it’s our duty as moms to make sure that we only use products that will help our kids’ develop properly. In terms of feet, that means good quality shoes. That’s why when Walnut Melbourne-Philippines approached me to partner with my blog, I readily agreed! I had seen their shoes online prior to them contacting me and I was immediately drawn to the designs and the fact that they’re shoes are really well-made. Let me tell you more about the brand.

Walnut is one of the Australian brands that Lemon Myrtle has to offer. With a focus on children’s shoes, this up and coming brand gives a fashionable twist to a very well made and comfortable pair of both girls and boys shoes. Styles from ballerinas, to sandals, and sneakers are just an example of the range that it has to offer to children and their parent’s discerning eye.

Internationally you can find walnut in Australiain their more affluent department stores such as David Jones. While you can also find them in specialty children’s stores such as Shoes And Sox, Funky Kids, and Lou Lou Trends to name a few. Walnut is also available in international countries such as Hong Kong, and Singapore. Locally it is available in Rustan’s; Shangri-la, Makati, and Alabang.It is also available in Shoe Thing branches; Greenbelt 5, Trinoma, Eastwood Mall, and Bonifacio High Street, and Lucky Chinatown.

I love the styles and designs that Walnut has to offer for both girls and boys. The features include the following: durable canvass, lightweight and  flexible, elastic tongue & pull tabs for easy on/off, eyelet feature, 100% cotton upper, non-slip TPR soles.

For girls, they have these super cute Mary Janes that come in a variety of colors and designs.

 They also have the Tom Tennis Canvass shoes for both girls and boys. The features are the same as the ones for the Mary Janes. Here are some of the colors available for boys.

Aside from these, Walnut also has other designs for girls such as the Jane Faux Patent, Garland Glitter and Twinkle Ballet Flats and Toggle Gum-boots. For boys, they also have the Ben Classic Velcro Canvas as wll as Toggle Gum-boots for boys too.

There are two really great features of Walnut shoes that I love. 1) They’re designed to grow with your kid’s feet and 2) they’re machine-washable! So great, right? Since we don’t have a helper at home, it would be super helpful for me that I can just put the shoes in the washing machine to clean. Saves time and effort! And since our kids’ feet tend to grow real fast, it would be super great to have shoes that grow with their feet so that you won’t need to keep buying new ones that often.

The canvas shoes retail for a minimum of Php 1,595.00, depending on the size. The faux patent and twinkle ballet flats costs Php 2,195 while the Garland Glitter and Toggle Gum-boots costs Php 2,395.00 and P 2,495.00, respectively. It might seem like much to some but I tell you, it’s going to be worth your investment.

I was so happy when my kids received their own Walnut shoes to try. They came in these reusable canvas bags. I love it! So earth-friendly.

This is a photo of Ziya and Ziggy when we went to the mall last Saturday. It was raining but I wasn’t worried about them stepping on the puddles because I knew I could just easily clean the shoes.

I super LOVE them because they look great on his feet and fit really well too. It’s so easy to put it on and they’re very, very comfortable. Ziggy loves them too. He can run around and play without hurting his feet (and he runs around a lot!). At least I don’t need to worry about cleaning them after. He also likes the fact that he can take them off easily, unlike his rubber shoes. I love the color combo too because they look great with most of his clothes.

As for Ziya, well she’s your typical girly-girl and so it’s no surprise that she loved the Mary Janes she got. She’s already 10 years old but the largest size still fits her nicely. She likes that the colorful design will allow her to wear the shoes with practically any color clothing she chooses. Very versatile! Ziya says the shoes feel really soft inside. For a kid who can be really choosy with shoes, that’s really saying a lot!
