Two Saturdays ago, I was busy doing chores, not expecting that we’ll be going out that day, when the hubby suddenly asked if I wanted to go to Trinoma. I said we can go if he wanted to as soon as I’m done with the chores. I hurriedly finished up what I was doing. You see, the hubby is a homebody so he rarely asks if we can go out. So, whenever he asks, I usually drop or reschedule whatever I’m doing in order to accommodate him.
I didn’t really think there was anything special he wanted us to do in Trinoma. There wasn’t any special event there that day that we were interested in attending. So, I knew that we were really just going there so that we can take the kids on their first ride on the MRT. Hahaha! Hubby and I have talked about it several days before and so I knew that it was still on his mind. I got excited because it was going to be a milestone for all three kids. I also wanted an opportunity to teach Zoe and Ziya how to commute in a train. Even if they’re being driven in a car most of the time, I want them to grow up independent and knowledgeable about public transportation.
So, anyway, I didn’t tell Zoe and Ziya what we were going to do. I just said that we were going to take them on an adventure. However, I knew that Ziggy was going to be the one who would enjoy it the most. He has been watching a lot of Curious George videos and there’s this episode wherein George took a train ride to go to the zoo. Because of that, Ziggy has been wanting to ride a train. So, off we went.
We drove to Makati first and parked our car at the Alphaland Mall where the Magallanes station is. It was only there that the girls realized we were taking the train. They were surprised to say the least. Haha! Hubby paid for our MRT cards then gave them to us. I then taught Zoe and Ziya how to use the card and helped them get through the turnstiles when I noticed that my hubby turned back towards the ticket booth saying that his card wasn’t working. It turns out he was putting it in wrong. Hahaha! I couldn’t help but laugh. To think that he had been riding the MRT regularly before when he was still working in Ortigas. Oh well!
Anyway, since it was the first train ride for all three of my kids, I just had to take a photo to capture the momentous event. Here are they with the hubby just before the train arrived.
Going to Trinoma, I would say that Ziggy really did enjoy it. We rode the first train car and hubby decided to stand right behind the operator so that Ziggy can watch. Zoe and Ziya, who were able to sit down, were quiet the whole time just taking everything in. I think I made them a bit nervous because of my warnings about being careful of pickpockets and stuff.
Before we knew it, we were already in Trinoma. I think the girls were just amazed that the trip went by fast.
As expected, we didn’t do much in the mall except eat and go window shopping. We had lunch at Ristorante Bigoli, which was a new find for us. I really enjoyed this pizza we ordered. I forgot the name though but I was really surprised to find out that zucchini in pizza actually tasted really good.
During merienda time, we went to Seattle’s Best wherein I decided to try this – the Sea Salt Caramel Javakula. Oh my gosh, it’s so yummy! I want to have it again. Plus, the added starfish made it really cute too, don’t you think?
Anyway, obviously we had to ride the train back to Alphaland after spending the entire afternoon in Trinoma. It was already raining a bit hard when we left and I got concerned that the ride will be scary for the kids but it turned out okay. I actually took photos of the kids in the train that time but they were all blurry so I’d rather not share them anymore.
All in all, the train ride was a success. Ziggy enjoyed it so much that until now he still keeps asking hubby and I to take him to ride the train again. Uh oh!
Have your kids experienced any milestones lately? Do share.
