Ever since I was a kid I have always loved watching plays. It really is a dream of mine to perform on stage but life didn’t take me down that road so I just try to satisfy myself by watching plays instead. I also want my kids to grow up loving plays so I try to take them to at least one every year. I want them to be exposed to other worlds beside TV, movies and the Internet. So, when my friend Ria said she was going to give me free tickets to watch The Bluebird of Happiness, I was beyond thrilled!

Bluebird

The Bluebird of Happiness is a brand new musical from Trumpets. It is  based on the play “The Blue Bird” by Belgian playwright Maurice Maeterlinck with book & lyrics by Jaime del Mundo and music by Rony Fortich. It started it’s run at the Meralco Theater just last month and will continue until some time this month.

Basically the play is set on Christmas Eve and tells us the story of siblings, Mytyl and Tyltyl and their quest to find the bluebird of happiness. They have been very dissatisfied and unhappy because everybody else seemed to have everything they could ever want for Christmas. They feel that their lives are miserable because there never seems be enough food, clothes, toys, etc in their family. So, they went to the past and future, through greed and luxury, in search of the elusive bluebird of happiness.

It’s really a play that everybody, young and old, will enjoy. So, I was super excited to take hubby and the kids to watch it. It was to be Ziggy’s first experience watching a play so I was a bit concerned if he’ll be patient enough to sit and watch the whole thing.

So, last Saturday, we trooped to Meralco theater to watch the play. Aside from hubby and the kids, I was also able to bring my mom-in-law, sis-in-law and her two kids.  Going there I had no idea where we’re going to be seated because I didn’t have the tickets yet. So, I was totally surprised and delighted to find out when we got there that my friend gave us orchestra seats worth P 1,300.00 each! Wow!

We were on row D, very near the stage, so we really had a good view. This is our view of the stage. So near, right? Fabulous!

Of course, this being a milestone event for Ziggy, I had to take a photo of him before the play. Haha! Ziggy was surprisingly behaved the whole time we were there. We didn’t need to get up and take him outside at all, except during intermission. Proud mommy moment!

And, of course some photos of the girls too, who ended up really loving the play.

We enjoyed it a lot. The play was funny. I loved the songs! And the set was just spectacular! The actors were really good too, especially the two main kids. Very, very talented indeed. I only wish it was allowed to take photos so that I can post them here. I highly recommend you guys take your family there to watch too while you can.

You can catch The Bluebird of Happiness until October 20, 2013 at the Meralco Theater. For tickets, call (632) 901-4364 or visit www.ticketworld.com.ph. You can also follow their Facebook page for updates.
