About a week ago, I blogged about this new app for 2 – 6 year olds called Heroes of the City Movie app. My toddler and I loved it so much! If you missed it, you can read the review by clicking this link.

Unfortunately, during that review, I was able to review only the “Movies” function of the app because something went wrong with my download (possibly due to my Internet connection). Thankfully, my good friends at Ruta Ett, the developers of this wonderful app, assisted me with the download again. So, finally, I was also able to do a review of the “Games” function.

What’s great about this app is that aside from having 26 movies, there are also 9 games to choose from. Below are some photos I took of my Ziggy’s Android tablet, which is where I downloaded the app.

Clicking upon the “Games” function, will lead you to this screen, which will show you icons of all the 9 games. All these games are age-appropriate. Best of all, they’re not only fun but also encourages and challenges kids to think and use their brains.

HOC1

Ziggy’s most favorite game in the app is this one wherein the kid has to help Fiona Fire Engine put out the fires in the building. Ziggy is obsessed with fire trucks so it’s really no wonder why this one’s his favorite.

HOC5

Another one of Ziggy’s favorites is this game wherein the kid is required to complete puzzles. Once completed, the puzzles reveal a Heroes of the City character. I didn’t think that Ziggy would be able to accomplish this one because he only just turned 3. But I shouldn’t have underestimated how smart my kid is. He’s actually very good at this!

HOC2

Ziggy also loves this memory card game. He’s been playing memory card games on my phone for several months now. His memory is really quite good.

HOC3

For learning colors, you can let your child play this coloring game. You can choose from a variety of Heroes of the City characters to color.

HOC4

This next game requires more thinking as the kid will need to think of how to complete the train tracks to enable Tilly the Train to pass.

HOC10

For kids who are quick on their feet (or fingers!), they’ll love this game wherein Paulie Police Car has to race on a track, jump on obstacles and catch some stars for extra points.

HOC7

This game requires the kid to catch as many butterflies, bugs and bonus points!

HOC11

Lastly, in this game, the kid will have to catch as many critters as they can, who are all poking their heads out from these holes.

HOC8

This last one is sort of like the other game with Paulie Police Car on a track. But this requires the kid to shoot  Calamity Crow from a canon. The farther he reaches, the higher the points.

HOC9

Most of the games allow the kid to gain points and move on to a higher level. Once a kid finishes a level, this screen comes out to show his ranking on the game, with accompanying fire works! I like it because it gives kids a sense of accomplishment.

During my first review, I said that I highly recommend this app. After reviewing the games, I recommend it even more. So, if you guys are interested, go download it now. It’s available on both Android and Apple devices. Here are the download links:

Now for the giveaway!!!

My generous friends at Ruta Ett sent Ziggy these wonderful gifts over a week ago.  As you can see, Ziggy loves them so much and was so excited when he saw them.

HOC12

Ziggy loves books even though he can’t read yet. He loves that I read to him though. He liked that this book is very colorful and that it featured his favorite characters. We were given book #6 from the series, entitled “The Hot Air Balloon”. Yes, they have more!

We also collect DVDs of his favorite cartoons so I love that we got this too. This particular DVD has 5 movies in it.  At least Ziggy can watch the movies while his Android tablet is being charged.

Of course, Ziggy loves the toys the most! He was given a Paulie Police Car and a Tilly Train toy. They are so cute! I only wish we can collect all the characters.

TAKE NOTE: All these items are NOT yet available in the Philippines. They will be released in the U.S. soon though. So, isn’t it a bummer that we can’t purchase them from here yet ?

The good news is that one of you can win these items for your kid too!!! This pack includes the following items:

i haven’t heard this kid’s stuff before but i would love to introduce it to my 5yr.old daughter that will surely love the “Fiona the firetruck” character. she’s the only girl among cousins and also played with them their car toys. I think she’d love to have her own girl car toy (fiona the firetruck).

This is the first time I’ve read about this app. I have not downloaded it but I definitely will because my three-year-old son will love this. My son is currently fascinated with trains (carnival rides and LRT/MRT and Chuggington) so he will surely love the “train” character. I didn’t want to forget to join that’s why I commented first and then will download it later when the toddler is asleep (and the household is peaceful), hehe. Thanks!
