As a work-at-home mom, I normally don’t get out a lot. That doesn’t mean I don’t get to communicate though. I still need to connect, communicate and share with my clients, fellow bloggers and friends. It’s just that I normally do so digitally, via my laptop or my mobile phone. So, for people like me, it’s really very important to use a reliable app for this purpose.

I am so happy that recently, I was able to try out this all-in-one app called WeChat. It is a mobile social communication app designed for smartphone users. WeChat is actually the world’s fastest growing social app with over 100 million registered accounts internationally.

What is WeChat?

With WeChat, one can experience fun and dynamic ways of messaging, social communication and gaming, all in one seamless and interactive experience. Best of all, it has comprehensive privacy and security settings that can be tailored to your needs. It is available free for download on Android, BlackBerry, iOS, Symbian and Windows operating systems.

WeChat has several innovative features useful for WAHMs like me. Aside from enabling users to add friends, it also has a highly convenient and reliable QR code scanning, phonebook and location-based connection services such as “Hold Together”, “People Nearby” and “Shake.” If I need to communicate with clients and friends real time, WeChat supports social interaction with real-time “Walkie Talkie,” “Voice Call,” and “Video Call.”

Staying connected with friends anywhere, anytime is easier with WeChat because it is supported on data networks and Wi-Fi. “Moments” allows users to communicate and share photos one-on-one, or within their closed social network. The popular WeChat Sticker Shop has a variety of fun animated emoticons to express any emotion. Also, with a host of addictive WeChat Games, users can play and challenge their friends on the move, share scores and even find competitors nearby.

How can WeChat’s Chat History Backup Feature save you?
I do most of my interaction with clients online so you can just imagine how much important information gets exchanged between us during our chats. What is frustrating for me is having to get back my phone and scrolling through all of the conversations, in an effort to retrieve those important details. It takes too much time and effort. Worse, information can also get lost.

So, I am so happy to have discovered WeChat also because of its Chat History Backup Feature, which saves conversation histories and restores them to any device for up to seven (7) days. It’s such as savior for WAHMs like me!

How exactly can the Chat History Backup feature save you? Let me enumerate the ways.

1. Retrieving important dates

If you have trouble remembering important dates, such as birthdays, anniversaries, and client meetings, don’t fret because you no longer have to store them in your brain. With the Chat History Backup feature, all you need to do is refer back to conversations with your friends and clients. Chats with your friends can also remind you of events such as the annual Art in the Park exhibit in Salcedo Village, which you have planned to visit together.

2. Keeping lists
For WAHMs like me, it’s important to make all sorts of lists in order to keep track of things such as family schedules, what to buy in the grocery, important tasks for clients, and future blog topics, among others. No need to use Post-its on your refrigerator. Just use WeChat.

3. Retrieving work exchanges
WeChat also allows you to organize group conversations. So, you can use it to communication with your work group. Need to refer back to a work conversation to retrieve important details relayed to you by a colleague? You can retrieve your file either on your desktop or phone so that you can finish your task.

How to use the WeChat Chat History Backup Feature

My life as a WAHM is already hectic enough so the last thing I need is an app that is complicated to use. That’s why I am so glad that the WeChat Chat History Backup feature can be used in just 3 easy steps.

The process starts with selecting “Settings” > “General” > “Chat History Backup” and then clicking “Back Up” for the conversations you’d like to store.

Then, once you’ve saved your chats, you can protect them by setting a password.

WeChat2

Then, if you wish to restore your conversations on any device, simply log on and tap “Restore” on the Chat History Backup window. The backed-up history will be restored to your device from the server.

That’s it! It’s so quick and easy, right? It really saves me so much time and effort.

  1. Good upgrade from wechat. I dont know other chat apps who does that. Like for me example, i recently changed phones and all my conversations have been totally erased and i have to register again. Great review, got me thinking into switching to wechat

  4. What’s the max limit of people who can join a group chat? 🙂 This sounds really interesting. Our company’s on Google hangouts but no one seems to have it on their devices locally other than me. 🙁 I think more people might be more familiar with wechat….or viber

  6. I’ve downloaded WeChat before (my client actually sent it to me to download), but not enough of my friends use it so I’ve since stayed with Viber (which is used by my previous clients also). Maybe
