Several weeks ago, I shared with you all about my latest writing gig with the Asian Parent. If you missed that post, do click the link so that you’ll be kept up to date. In that post, I mentioned that the local version of the Asian Parent was going to launched this month. This week, it finally happened.
The AsianParent.com is the ASEAN’s No. 1 parenting website that has localized editions in Singapore, Thailand, Malaysia, Indonesia and now, in the Philippines.
Asian Parent features high quality editorial content using galleries, video, articles, and infographics, as well as parent-to-parent support by way of chats, groups and user submitted stories. Their mission is “to be South East Asia’s #1 online parenting resource offering parents trusted advice and solutions from experts and other like-minded parents. This is to help them raise happy and confident children.”
The launch took place last May 28, 2014 at aSpace Manila in Makati. My friend, Millie (whose hubby was the official event photographer) and I arrived early and so we had the chance to check out the place and meet the Asian Parent team. It was really exciting for me because I am so looking forward to working with the team for a long time.
It was an intimate event that was very well-attended, as you can see in the photo below.
The highlight of the event was actually the revelation of the results of the “The Asian Digital Mom Report 2014” – a report based on in-depth market research data from over 10,000 moms in Singapore, Thailand, Indonesia, Malaysia and the Philippines.
The report gave us very interesting insights as to who the Asian Digital Mom is, her online habits and how these affect her life as a mom and as a primary decision-maker in the household.
After the results, there was a panel discussion moderated by Raisa Tan, Associate Editor of TheAsianParent.com Philippines. The panelists include:
- Cheska Garcia-Kramer, Celebrity Mom
- Martine de Luna, Digital Media Consultant
- Frances Amper Sales, Writer, Editor and Mom blogger behind MommyTopaz.com
- Fleur Sombrero, Civil Engineer and Mom blogger behind MommyFleur.com
It was really very interesting to hear their stories on how the Internet has affected the decisions they make as moms. During the panel, it was also highlighted that a lot of moms make certain household-related decisions based on what other moms have experienced as well as on research they are able to find online on social media, blogs and other websites.
Well, I have no doubt that the Philippine edition of the Asian Parent will be a success. A lot of moms will find the articles in the site very helpful to their daily lives. I am super proud to be part of the Asian Parent family!

that’s so true! the internet does have influence on today’s moms. I myself have been moved by something I’ve read online or seen online and have tried to apply them to our family.

The internet has great influence to moms and students in the Philippines. Most families in the Philippines do not have internet connection. Television still the main source of information for most Filipino families.
