Our family loves to eat out and try new restaurants. However, eating out can be expensive too, especially for a family of five, so we’re always on the look out for good deals that can help us save money. Good thing that I was recently invited to try out Munchpunch then. Let me tell you all about it.

Munchpunch is a simple food menu guide for Metro Manila that you can find online. They help cater to the cravings of over 1.2 million people every month. Their mission is to make restaurant and food research a breeze – and that they do.

Here’s what you can find when you go to Munchpunch.com.

On that search bar there, you can just type a particular food, restaurant or location of your choice and Munchpunch will automatically give you a selection.

Alternatively, you can just mouse over the “Browse” tab on top and  you will find a few search lists such as Cities, Hubs, Cuisines, Types, Features and Budgets. This is a great way to narrow down search results.

Now, for example, you’ve already narrowed down your search to a particular restaurant such as Slice below, you’ll find yourself in this type of page. It specifies the location and contact details of the restaurant. You can also find, on the left portion, a few tabs to see the menu, the star ratings given for the food, the list of locations, and a list of activities that show the food items that people crave for in this restaurant.

I’ve been using Munchpunch prior to this invitation but I only usually use it to look at the menu of a restaurant I want to try. I didn’t know that there’s a lot more information I can find here. I also wasn’t aware that they had a VIP Menu. Fortunately, I was given some access to try that as well.

The VIP Menu is only available for Munchpunch VIP Members. The main perk of this is that you can get freebies and perks in over 150 locations, not available for non-VIP members, such as free upsize, free dessert, free entree, etc. But of course, this comes with a price though. To sign up for VIP membership, you have to pay Php 299.00 for a 60-day membership. If you’re not sure yet about signing up, you can try it first for 15 days for FREE, no strings attached!

Yesterday, I was finally able to try out the VIP Menu when hubby and I decided to eat out with Ziggy. Here’s what the VIP Menu looks like.

Searching is also easy because you can narrow down search results using Location, Recommendation, Item or Restaurant tabs.

For yesterday, we wanted to find a good deal for our lunch out at Alabang Town Center. So, I chose this Buy 1, Take 1 Steamed Chicken Treat deal from Shi Lin.

Munchpunch5

It’s very simple to avail of the deals. All you have to do is click on the “Get Code” button. Then you will receive a confirmation text message on your phone with the code and all the info about the deal. (So, make sure your cellphone number on your account page is correct and updated). Then, when you order at the restaurant, you just have to present the message on your phone to the waiter. That’s it! Easy peasy, right?

That’s exactly what I did at Shi Lin yesterday. I just presented the code. The waitress just copied the information and took the rest of our orders.

Here’s a close-up of the Steamed Chicken. This is just one order.

Aside from the Buy 1, Take 1 Steamed Chicken (see photo below ), we also got the Stir Fry Native Spinach, Fried Rice with Shredded Pork and Egg and a refillable pot of Taiwan Phoenix Oolong Tea. Each serving of Steamed Chicken was actually more than enough for one person so you can just imagine how full we were after the meal.

Based on this trial, I can say that the Php 299 investment for a VIP membership can really be worth it if you eat out a lot. I can’t wait to try the other deals on Munchpunch. Try it out for yourselves too!
