Last May 9, the day before Mother’s Day, Melawares and Urban Kitchen kicked off their Mommy & Me mall tour at the SM Southmall. The Mommy & Me mall tour is a month-long celebration dedicated to honoring moms with special treats, fun games and other exciting perks at various SM malls.
Melawares is the leading brand of choice for quality melamine tableware in the Philippines. For over 30 years, they have produced thousands of plates, bowls, trays, tumblers, and other tableware products.
Their products are made of melamine, which is an organic compound that is heat-resistant and durable. When turned into resin, it forms plastic typically used in tableware, utensils, and flooring. They’re available in all sorts of designs and there are even Disney-inspired ones for kids.
The event area featured some fun activities that moms and their kids can enjoy. The first one that my kids and I tried was the photo booth.
Then, we had Ziggy join the Design Your Own Plate activity. The winner of this activity won prizes from Melawares plus a set of tableware that will be produced based on her winning design.
Most of the kids (and their moms) flocked to the face painting and nail art station though.
Of course there were a lot of Melawares products featured in the area offered at discounted prices, especially for the occasion.
But the ones I found the cutest were the Disney-inspired ones. I’m crushing on the purple Princess Sophia heart-shaped plate!
The moms were also treated to informational talks and demos. First up was the Editor of TheAsianParent.com, Carla Perlas, (yes she’s my former editor!) who talked about Online Rakets.
Then, Chef Ara Padilla taught us all how to make yummy Oreo Cheesecake Cookies and a drink called Sweet Surrender. The Oreo Cheesecake Cookies were really to die for and were actually shaped using Disney inspired cookie cutters.
Moms were also invited to join a contest wherein they were tasked to tap into their creativity to come up with their own Disney-inspired kids’ meal using the ingredients that were provided and of course, also using Melawares and Urban Kitchen Disney products.
Aside from these, there were many raffle prizes of Melawares and Urban Kitchen products that were given away to very lucky moms.
I didn’t win in the raffle but still got to take home some Melawares products. Yay!
Ziggy was so happy to see the Lighting McQueen starter set, which he now uses when he eats. I was equally happy too because we use a lot of Melawares products at home.
Because we encourage our kids to help us out in the kitchen, we make sure that the tableware we choose are safe for them to handle and will not break easily. Melawares products are exactly that so I was really glad that I have two new tableware items to add to our collection.
The Mommy & Me mall tour is held in partnership with ELBA Philippines. You can also still catch it at the following SM malls: SM Mall of Asia, SM Megamall, SM Makati and SM City Naga.

This one’s surely a fun event, looks like it’s well-attended too. It’s nice to know that brands like Melawares, Elba, etc are being more creative and more interactive with how they do their Marketing. Picking SM malls as the venues of their mall tours is a great move.
Yes, it was a very well-attended event. SM malls are indeed great venues for events such as this.
