Growing up, science was never one of my favorite subjects. Although some of the topics were interesting to me, studying them was such a bore because all we ever seemed to do in school was memorize concepts. Sure, there were experiments here and there but none that really captivated me or encouraged me to learn more.

That is exactly why I grabbed the opportunity when my five-year-old son, Ziggy, was offered a slot to try Curaytive Science’s “I Matter” workshop last month at Fully Booked in Alabang Town Center. I wanted him to learn about science concepts in an interactive and fun environment.

I’m happy to let you all know that Curaytive Science will have several fun and interactive science workshops this summer but allow me to tell you more about them first and also share with you Ziggy’s own experience with them last month.

Curaytive Science

Curaytive Science was created just over a year ago by the Curay family composed of Coach Pierre, Coach Trixie and their kids, Coach Kyna and Coach Kimi. They love science and go as a team to teach science to kids.

Their mission is to inspire young learners to become future innovators to solve the problems of today and tomorrow by providing fun, engaging and immersive science workshops. They aim to generate that spark of interest and make young learners find how amazing science really is, and with that create more engineers, scientists and innovators that will solve both current and future problems.

Curaytive Science is about inspiring… Inspiring young learners. Inspiring to become future innovators. Inspiring to become problem-solvers. Inspiring for nation building. Inspiring to make the world a better place. Curative Science is about inspiring innovation.

The Curay family themselves are inspiring. It’s fun to see them work together during the workshops. They work well together. Their kids are always excited to help the other kids out. Coach Pierre and Coach Trixie are also fun instructors who love to makes jokes and make the kids laugh.

Science is really one of their biggest advocacies. Not only do they teach these private workshops, they also put a portion of the workshop fees to bring Curaytive Science to public school students. They’re an amazing family, indeed.

I Matter Workshop

Now let me share with you what Ziggy experienced during their I Matter workshop last month. Obviously, the topic is all about Matter. I haven’t taught this topic to Ziggy yet in our homeschool lessons but I figured it couldn’t hurt for him to get a head start on the topic by joining the workshop.

Below are photos of some of the experiments done during three-day workshop.

Day 1

Ziggy was a bit hesitant at first but he gamely joined in on the experiments after he saw how fun they were.

Day 2

Ziggy was already more excited to attend the second day of the workshop knowing that he was going to do so many cool things.

This was one of the experiments Ziggy was most excited about because he has seen a YouTube video about it. He super loved that he was able to do it himself!

Day 3

Day 3 was the most relaxed one. Ziggy gamely participated again. However, he was sad at the same time because he knew it was the last workshop day already.

I can honestly say that Ziggy absolutely enjoyed every bit of the workshop. He was a bit hesitant at first because he was one of the youngest kids there but he became more and more engaged after each experiment. It helped that the coaches were really fun to listen to and took the time to really go around to make sure each kid got to try the experiment first hand.

Some of you might be hesitant about safety because of some of the materials used. But you should know that the coaches always remind the kids what they can and cannot touch, what they should and shouldn’t do to ensure everyone’s safety during the sessions.

Great News, especially to those living in southern Metro Manila! Your kids can try Curaytive Science’s workshop too this summer! The South Curaytive Science Summer Workshop will have 8 sessions of their all-time favorites of “Up Air” and “I Matter” plus the newest topic which is “It Goes Boom!”.
