A few weeks back, I blogged about the Hot Wheels Make It Epic Campaign. If you missed it, let me tell you all about it again here.

Hot Wheels, the #1 vehicle toy brand in the world, released a new campaign for 2016, known as the Make It Epic campaign, which is rooted in the overall Hot Wheels brand purpose of exhilaration and achievement for every kid. It is a call-to-action to all boys to show what they can do with Hot Wheels through customization and competition, through imagination and hacks, through cool cars and a daring attitude. This encourages and enables boys to experience a sense of achievement.

Epic is a challenge to boys to make Hot Wheels play bigger, faster, higher, cooler, louder, anywhere, any way. It is the promise of exhilaration. Thus, the tagline “Don’t just make it awesome, make it epic!”.

Part of this campaign is the Hot Wheels Epic Race, which we (hubby, our son, Ziggy and I) got a chance to witness for ourselves last April 9 at the SM Megamall Event Center.

Before the race proper, we got a chance to explore the area and we saw kids, both boys and girls, trying out the new Hot Wheels Track Builders.

Of course, the different Track Builders were on display too for those who wanted to buy. There are so many to choose from!

There was also a diorama of a Track Building Home on display, where kids could see how they could transform their own room to a Hot Wheels Epic race track using tracks, connectors, launchers and stunt kits from the all new Track Builder Unlimited. Too bad I wasn’t able to get a full photo of it though but you can see glimpses of it with these two photos below.

The highlight of the area though was, of course, the Gravity Racing Platform, which is where the race took place.

It was so easy to join the Hot Wheels Epic Race:

1. Purchase at least two Hot Wheels Basic Cars from the participating store.
2. Maximum 2 trials per car, the fastest speed will be recorded.
3. Top 20 (fastest speed record) will be shortlisted to join the Area Qualifying Rounds

The Area Qualifying Rounds were scheduled as follows:

April 9 – 10 – SM Megamall, Central Qualifying
April 16 – 17 – SM BF Paranaque, South Qualifying
April 23 – 24 – SM San Lazaro, North Qualifying

During the race, we witnessed both boys and girls picking the best Hot Wheels Basic Cars and trying them out at the Gravity Racing Platform in an effort to get the furthest and the fastest time.

It was really exciting to watch! The kids weren’t the only ones having fun, even their parents too!

The fastest 20 per qualifying site will advance to the semi-finals on May 14 at SM Mall of Asia. Exciting!

If you’re interested to see what the Track Builder sets look like, here’s a sample.

Take a peek at how a set can look like when built. The thing I like most about these sets is that it gives kids the freedom to really be creative in building a really EPIC track according to their preference.

Our Ziggy wasn’t able to join the race, but at least he got to take home some Hot Wheels cars and a sample track! He was so happy!

We can’t wait to start buying him his own Track Builder sets soon!

  1. Hot Wheels is epic! oppss! HAHAHA

It’s my favorite toy talaga not just for my kids pero para sa akin din 😉

  2. Hot Wheels and little boys are synonymous. I think most kids have Hot Wheels, we have small collection here, as well. My kids would have a blast on that gravity racing platform for sure. Looks like Ziggy had fun, too. 🙂 Naimagine ko na kids ko, they would be hard to pry away from it once they start playing with it.

  4. Wow! That’s really epic! ? For some reason, my daughter likes Hot Wheels cars too. And you mentioned that there were girls who also got their own cars and tried them in the Gravity Racing Platform. It only shows that HW cars are not just for boys but for girls as well. 6. Oooh, I haven’t seen a race in years! It’s nice to see Hot Wheels bringing activities like these back. My daughter is fond of toy cars. Maybe we’ll be into car racing when she grows a bit older.

  7. We have a growing collection of Hot Wheels cars here too. Someone once gifted the kids with a track but it wasn’t long before they forgot about it. Building it themselves, I think, would be interesting instead of just making the cars go on a track that mom assembled. Haha
